There will always be scammers scouring free stuff and then sell it as their own. You won't find programmers posting their mq4 files for the very same reason.
FF seems to me mostly self-policing, if you see something wrong then report it.

I get the self-policing bit but the question is, What are your thoughts about putting commercial members behind a paywall?
There's a huge difference between making a challenge about a point of discussion on strategy and technical trading matter as oppose to the challenge directed at a personal level. The former should be encouraged to facilitate for a robust discussion on the subject of interest. However, many times they tend to descend into some ugly slugfest.

Where ludicrous claims are made by the poster they do attract strong challenges as we all witness on the forum. It also depends on individual members who may feel for some reason a personal challenge is appropriate from their point of view that seek to clarify whatever they perceive, nobody really knows what triggers them to do that, it could be mere misinterpretation or misreading that's the root cause.

Where commercial section is concern, it's long overdue that proof of authenticity of performance must be a requirement before anyone is allowed to solicit for business. It has been brought up all over the forum by many members, just too bad that FF moderators have not reciprocated likewise.

Who would subscribe to a paywall ? FF would lose a lot of income.
As it is there are people blatantly selling on the non-commercial forums, of course, until they are reported they will carry on.
As I said FF is self-policing, they expect us to do this work for them.

Genuine commercial members would benefit by being given some kind of "licence" by FF to advertise. I think brokers already do this.
The scammers would just find away to circumvent this.

The reason I've brought this up feeds into what we've witnessed this morning - and to a degree, I believe, some of the context.

I don't advocate HeyYou's behaviour but I do understand his frustration to a point. No offence to Cat but he lost me in the second paragraph of today's Dax explanation. On a practical level it makes no odds my side, but I can see how lengthy write ups might baffle some people particularly when the description is not supported by some form of chart or traded example, which brings me to a point.

I actually do understand the OP's rationale for not posting trades, or doing the chart based interactive stuff. I'm posting a lot less these days but the main reason for that lies in how commercial members are operating (hence my reflecting on whether or not FF should put them behind a paywall). I'm just trying to understand why HeyYou lashed out. Nothing ever happens in a vacuum and sometimes traders can gain a lot more from these type of events than they may at first realise.
Okay, quite a few people have had their say, and I'm kind of surprised that what is just a discussion forum, aimed purely at a/ airing my views and approach to trading, and b/ getting the same from others, has attracted so much criticism since I began it.

Sometimes I attempt to explain something that doesn't translate well into words, I accept that, and am open to feedback and happy for people to let me know whether something was a load of gobbledy gook or not. Attempting to explain how I use multiple time frames is probably not a great idea without chart examples.

What I do find difficult to understand however is people, often quite offensively, who turn against me openly on this forum, accusing me of deception and fraud, all because I do not post live trades, for reasons which I have gone into before.

I have only ever meant to help others on this thread, and to provide a forum where traders, experienced or otherwise, can come to discuss any aspect of trading they so wish, bounce stuff of others, and generally interact in a friendly, sociable traders environment, free from live trading calls and all the bullshit one generally sees on the interactive threads. Why did I bother? Because although I am very happy working alone all day, enjoying my own company as all traders have to do, I am also a pretty sociable guy who likes to interact with people who are on the same wavelength as myself.

It seems however, that the longer I post here, the more people begin to question my veracity as a trader, and so, with this in mind, and with a great deal of information already shared in the previous pages, I'm going to bow out of here, because this thread is in danger of becoming something I never wished it to be.

I will of course continue trading, as I have done for the past 10 years, and will also continue to post where and when I feel the desire. I have never professed to being a great or even good trader, only a trader, and those who read my posts are able to judge them on their merit.

I have called a close on this thread before, and perhaps that would have been a good time, but now, at the end of 2017, I reckon this is the time for my final post, because I honestly now do not see how I am going to take this thread any further without posting live trades and revealing more than I wish to reveal.

Honestly, I don't know why you're getting so hot under the collar about it. There's many occasions you've presented yourself as a professional trader, and there's also many occasions when you've robustly rebutted other people's view on how and when to time the market. You've been around here for a long time so it's only natural that at some point people are going to want to see a trade. What harm can it do?

Yes I can, but actually, I have of late found myself running over the same ground, and there is a limit to how much stuff one can share without delving deeper into one's own methodology because I've reached the stage where I find it difficult to give examples of trade set ups without including everything I use on my charts. No particular secret of course, as everything I use is freely available, but its kind of personal if you know what I mean and for now at least, I'll keep it that way. I think 78 pages of me ( and others ) but mainly me, is probably as much as anyone really wants or needs.

So yes, hell awaits!

Not hot, very cool actually. If people want to see live trades posted, they know where they can go. This was never my intention, and it still isn't. Why should it be...I am not selling anything, it is all free. I have never made any claims. I have offered information, and have left it to others to assimilate or not.

What I am saying is that it would've been an idea to post some reference on a chart, hindsight even, but with a ticket that supports the written information you've posted. Also - I've not said that I would like to see it - just that I understand why others might want to.
It all boils down to proprietary issues why trades are not shown as reference where some members might bear such expectations.

Sure, I get that. Perhaps that's something I will move onto in the future, either live trades, or, posting charts with the broker's entry level, but one can of course cherry pick with the latter, and posting live is not something I wish to do on Trader's Academy because it then becomes an interactive thread, and to do so just to prove my worth seems pointless unless I am going to do it consistently on an interactive thread, which for now anyway, I am not planning to do.

Not sure what you mean by proprietary issues since we're all looking at the same information.

Propriety would suggest private inside knowledge which nobody has unless you're working for a central bank or a big financial institution.

It's all just different interpretations of the same chart. I trade supply and demand, Davit likes his pivots. Some people like moving averages, S/R or trend-lines.

Calling potential trades and posting after trade entries and exits gives nothing away apart from a heads up that the method is valid. People then become interested and give it a try.... They'll probably move to another system regardless if it works on not since it's all about psychology in the end.

I understand cat..just continue to trade.. most here are seeking a free lunch..I was ignored by a certain trader once for saying i have over a million dollars in my trading accounts (combined), my last deposit being $150 (I lost a lot before this on binaries and EAs etc while learning ) and said it just to hear someone challenge me to prove it, i was lonely trading and wanted company and kinda lusted after a following but i've realized that most are lazy and wants something for nothing and some dont believe one can be truly successful in this retail business subconsciously, so i just decided to keep to myself and lurk in the background and laugh at the foolishness and utter rubbish i see masquerading as trading methods and learn from the psychological defects i identify in most retailers..There's a saying that goes; if you want to be rich stop doing what poor people do...so i translate this logic into trading...There are many successfully retail traders but due to what is happening here to you Cat is why they dont come out the background and help..
