MTF Dashboard thread

Hi... First off? I want to thank cja for his indicators posted here. WOW. Amazing work. So thank you for that.

Second? I've downloaded the MTF Heiken Ashi scanner and am currently using and LOVING it. Again... THANKS!

Third? I'm going through this thread to see if there is a version of the Heiken Ashi Scanner that you simply place on the chart and it automatically reads the currency pair you've placed the indicator/scanner on.

Or?

Do you have to just insert the currency pair (as I've already done) if you just want to see that pair's trend?

Doing it the way I've done it, I have to type in only the currency pair I want the information on and then save it under that currency pair's name.

Just wondering if there's a version in this thread that automatically reads whatever currency pair you load the scanner on. If not, no problem. Not asking for you to code it that way... Was just wondering.

I use a MTF Alligator scanner that automatically reads the currency you load the scanner on.

I see no reason to scan all the other currencies when I'm just looking at the one I'm trading.

But again... Not asking you to code it that way. Just wondering if that version exists and if so? Could someone point me to it? I'm going through the thread post by post but it's easy to get a little lost... LOL.

Have you tried leaving the currency pair input empty? usually I code it so if left empty it automatically picks up the chart the dashboard is loaded on. If that doesn't work for that dashboard I can update when I get back to my man data base as cannot do much at present as in an area with limited internet access and can only check mail if I travel to a cafe.

No... I haven't tried that... I will and let you know tomorrow when the market opens. Right now? The scanner isn't even showing up on my chart. I assume because the market's closed?

I just did as you suggested and sure enough? The indicator is reading ONLY the currency it's plotted on! LOL. Now I can DELETE all those separate currency templates! Thanks so much!

Your selection of MTF Scanners using varied signal methods is impressive and of good quality.

My request, Do you have in your collection a 2 x MA crossover MTF scanner for Multi Forex Pair (which can include Indices or Metals, or OIL, or Crypto in the for manual entry in the selection Input box).

What I require is a Scanner / Dashboard to notify by Alert when One smaller Period Moving Average (with variable Input Parameters) crosses a higher period Moving Average (variable Input Parameters) on a Selected Timeframe(s) for a selected (listed) Forex Pair or Instrument.

Your assistance with this request would be very much appreciated.

Apologies for my late reply I have been away in a limited internet access area for most of the last 4 months.

I do not code trading EA's

I do have MA cross dashboards but not for anything other than Forex, the issue with Indices or Metals, OIL or Crypto is Brokers tend to have different names for the same product and that is one thing that code uses as a reference but more importantly the points values are very different to Forex and can also differ between Brokers so making a universal points value that allows for all the trading commodities is virtually impossible so you end in a situation where you may have to code an indicator/EA to suit a particular Broker. This is why you see a lot of forum requests for EA's not working on Metals or Indices because the points values are wrong and the EA will try to set the trades too close to the current price which the Broker will not allow so the only fix is to increase the SL/TP values by a factor of 10 or 100 to compensate for the points differences.

At least I personally have not managed to code a universal points value code that works on everything, have any of you other coders found/developed a points code that works accurately across all the trading commodities? Would be very interested to see what anyone has come up with to solve this issue.

Most of my earlier MA dashboards are MA / Price cross dashboards and do not have Alerts and I see that Alerts is one of your requirements. All I can suggest is do a search through this thread using the paper clip symbol at the top of the thread and try the various dashboards to see if any suit your requirements and also do a general search on the Forum.

Now I must point out that this indicator shows Potential Classical Divergence, most divergence indicators show the divergence after the fact because you cannot establish divergence until it has happened. so this Dashboard basically shows when price is moving in one direction and RSI is moving in the opposite direction and gives the trader the opportunity to check out the signal for a potential early divergence. Set the bars back to cover a smaller or larger range of candles to consider.

Your MTF MA Multi Pair Dashboard is impressive. Would you mind add another MA (MA3) to the indicator where my parameter price for each MA as below;

MA1 (Close price)
MA2 (High Price)
MA3 (Low Price)

When MA1 crossed above MA2 is green (bullish) and crossed below MA3 is red (bearish).

i was unable to find a free mtf stoch indicator working for indices and commodities and you've made it, huge thank you !

Nice tool. I have some feedback to give you, any of which you can happily ignore if you wish.

1. Your labels for the FX pairs and TF's use a custom font that I don't have installed, so MT4 uses a bigger default.


The bigger default labels are therefore partially obscured:

Can you use a normal MT4 available font? Or, can you provide the custom font?

By the way, I happen to use very large (48") 4K TV's as monitors. Because the screens are so large, I like to use the Windows Display Settings Scale = 125%. I've noticed that many MT4 indicators don't properly account for this choice, and only work with the default "100%". I switched, and it made no difference for me, but if you change font's (or provide your custom font), I also hope that it will scale the font size accordingly if "125%" is used. It may not matter for your dashboard, but then again it might. The process of choosing a font is related to checking "TerminalInfoInteger(TERMINAL_SCREEN_DPI)" and comparing it to the usual 100% 96 dpi. If the terminal DPI is higher, you use a smaller scaled font size.

2. I like the ability to click on any FX pair to change the chart, and the ability to change the TF by clicking on the TF label of choice. What might be even handier is to click on any of the array of labels to change both the FX and TF with one click. That would make it trivially easy to change the chart to the specific divergence of interest.

3. I don't see much (or any?) use of the Tooltip text for the objects. (BTW, same observation for your OHLC tool). Example for one of the array of status labels:
ObjectSetString(0, objName, OBJPROP_TOOLTIP, "USDJPY,M15 Bearish");

4. You have hidden many of the dashboard labels, which I prefer. The "RSI Divergence" label need not be hidden, IMO, but perhaps you meant to hide these others?


5. Can the dashboard be moveable? (similar to your OHLC tool?) I do see you have input variables to control the starting position, but select-and-drag is most convenient.

6. I think you use object name "vert" in more than one of your tools. You perhaps might want to make it unique for each so it doesn't collide names.
EDIT: I think I may be wrong about your use of the same "vert" name in multiple tools. Nevermind that detail of this comment.

AFAIK, the "vert" object only indicates the status of the indicator setting, right? I moved it, but with the next tick it snaps back, so I guess this answers it. You might want to make it unselectable:
ObjectSetInteger(0,objName,OBJPROP_SELECTABLE,false);
I like doing this on objects I shouldn't edit so they don't interfere with the ones I manually draw.

7. Can you say more about the criteria for how you measure divergence? And can there be a little bit of control over it? For example, I like for the divergence of interest to occur when at least the first RSI reference peak/low is in a strongly OB/OS status, else I'm not interested that there is divergence. Do you already do this? (I don't see any way to control the OB/OS levels).

I'm a little bit confused by there being a specific "Bars to consider for divergence" and how that affects the measurement. I'm most accustomed to comparing two lines that are drawn between two price pivots (highs, OR lows), and see what the slope of the RSI's are when drawn from the same times as the price pivots. (Or possibly vice-versa, use the peaks of the RSI, and compare prices at those times??). These pivots vary as to how many bars back they occur. Of course, the farther back one checks, it will take more CPU to check all the charts, but "7" seems fairly small number of bars back to check. (See next comment on CPU).

You don't normally share source, but can you suggest any RSI divergence source code examples? I'd love to learn from an example and adapt/enhance according to my needs.

Even killing MT4 and restarting it, the MT4 was still hung as it had already saved my current Profile. I had to temporarily rename the dash indicator, then restart MT4, close a bunch of charts, restore the original indicator name (which as you note won't work if renamed), and then I could get the dashboard to work.

Arial is the Font used which is a commonly used Font on MT4 so that should not be an issue - refer to link for possible answer to your problem

See the post that you downloaded the Dashboard from. This does not used the usual form of divergence code or OB / OS levels, this is more about showing a potential early divergence hence the smaller default number of "7". You can use a larger number of course but how you use the dashboard is entirely up to you.

The more Pairs and Time frames you try to load the longer the dashboard takes to initially load. Generally the dashboard will take around 20 seconds to load 15/20 pairs but once loaded the cpu usage should be minimal. If the Market is slow then it will take a lot longer to load the data from each pair as the dashboard has to wait for a new tick from each pair to update. Some coders/dashboards use the "OnInit()" to intially load the dashboard display which loads the display almost instantly however it still takes the same amount of time for the data to update so you essentially gain nothing. The other option to reduce cpu usage is to code in an update interval but then that can delay the signals.

That is often deliberate on my part as there is nothing more annoying in my opinion than popup windows appearing every-time you place the mouse pointer on the dashboard. Some dashboards and EA's I have an ON/OFF for the tool tips. In this case I have used OBJPROP_TOOLTIP to highlight only some of the dashboard functions.
