Hey folks,

I have a quick (possibly dumb) question regarding the EURGBP pair.
If the EURO currency was only introduced a few years ago (1999 initially and then 2002 across the board), how is it that there is price history dating all the way back to 1979?
Why is that.

I know one of you around here knows the answer.

Thanks,
Tom

before the Euro it was called the ECU. Data in your charts since then is from the ECU.

I'm not sure its the ECU that is displayed in the charts.

I believe that the great majority of the charts have the German Deutsche Mark (DEM) acting as a synthetic Euro before 1999.

Possible not every chart, but i think the Data Feed from FXCM use the DEM
