A great episode with Niels and Mark once again. A bit of "Rumsfeldology" is a necessary pill for the Trend Follower who accepts the "unknown unknowns" from time to time. The "known knowns"...well that's just the easy stuff.

funny..50% of time guys talk about fundamental analysis. Still, they try to link that to systematic trading in some sort of way. Been listening for years...and they always end up talking CNBC and BBL wizzeee

Yep....Most of the Trend Following guys I bump into still cling to understanding market behaviour the conventional way. Fundamentals tend to be a major topic even in TF circles.

I tend to adopt a contrarian view in understanding the fruits of trend following to be derived from abandoning tired old school economic concepts. Outliers cannot be predicted in advance and that is what bears the real fruit for a Trend Follower. The underlying reasons for Outliers in a complex adaptive system are vast and cannot be neatly categorized into conventional economic headings. I tend to think that new ideas such as Adaptive Markets by Andrew Lo better summarise how real markets work.

Sorry for barging in like that but it so resonate with me that i needed to share it, and who else to share it with.

His words are pure gold, encapsulate all the essence of trend following, inspired by and mentioned the turtles on several occasions, acknowledging the need of a big chunk of regular people how don't have the time to trade frequently and who needs a Monthly and weekly trading system to grow their wealth without too much risk, insisting to trade his trend following systems on his own retirement fund .

I felt like my brain is talking to me, history proven and backtested patience, discipline, consistency and perseverance without all the mumbo jumbo that its thrown on us on a daily basis .

"The benefits of that is u don't have to worry about the daily ups and downs "
" we don't predict, there's absolutely no prediction about it "
