"Live Update" crashing MT4?

Every time there is a new build, the live update seems to crash my MT4. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm using a demo from Alpari(I only use MT4 for charts). The first time this happened, I was using a demo from Fastbrokers. The solution was to simply get another demo and do a reinstall. I would like to get around that this time, if possible.

Also, I'm running XP home if that makes a difference.

If any one has any suggestions, let me know.

I had this problem. I tried re-installing, de-fragmenting, smoothed power supply, upgrading RAM and some others I can't remember.

The solution was to re-format the drive and re-install XP. Since then not a single problem, ever.

How old is your XP installation? If it's over a year then I think this is the way forward.

I´ve had this happening several times before. It was always my anti-virus-tool which caused the live-update to crash.

Try disabling your anti-virus and try again to update.

I had this problem with Alpari's demo many times and I think it was a RAM problem. If you have only 256 MB RAM or less, Metatrader will crash during live update, when you change the time frame, when you open a new chart, i.e. it will crash all the time. I have 384 MB of RAM now (256+128) and everything works fine.

Thanks guys. I just started the live update thing and left it hanging all night and it finally worked.

The thing is my XP is a fresh install and I've got 2gb of RAM so I'm not sure what causes it.

I could not update for 06 to 08 but it was ok from 06 to 10...

Dunno why but i suspect my antivirus...
