Hi all,

I've been straddling news releases for a long time. Have to say, it's not a very bad strategy, except you get spiked out, whipsawed or get slippages really bad.

Therefore, I'm just wondering if there are times where we can have some very strong volatility based on which I can grab a few pips simply by riding the trend?

In other words, I am looking for the same nature of situation, just without the spikes, whipsaws, liquidity problems and so on when straddling news releases.

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks!

volatility usually kick-in at the beginning of london session.
someday at beginning of german-session, 1 hour before london open.
someday at the beginning of london session
someday one hour after london session has begun

and then, again for ny session (i would say that anyway the big event is london open, ny sometime bring a little volatility but nothing big)

then of course the news, if you don't like to be spiked out, just wait 1 minute after the news is released and enjoy the fresh volatility without spikes.

ultimately (this is more sophisticated) you may look at volatility to develop whenever price touch or break the intraday supports and resistances (let's say the intraday lows and highs)

plenty of opportunities everyday
