Seeking MTF MA Indicator for MT4 build 625

Hi folks! I am looking for a Muti Time Frame MA indicator. For example on the 4HR TF I would like to be able to see a daily and Weekly MA on it. To avoid switching screens etc. I see there are some out there, but they dont seeem to work with this build

I use this one on build 625.
From top tabs click File, than
Click Open Data Folder, than
Double click MQL4 folder, than
Double click Indicators than put 2 files there, than
Close MT4 platform and open

Instead of using an indicator, you might also just try multiplying the moving average times the number of periods to reach the time frame.

For instance, if you want to see the 10 SMA of the daily chart while looking at the 4hr chart, multiply 10 times 6. (4hr times 6 = 24hr) The 60 SMA on a 4hr chart is the daily 10 SMA.

Don't know why anyone would need data on the weekly chart, lol, so you can do your own calculations for it.

Is this applicable to the indy in post 2 (MTF MA)?? Because I just assume this indy calculates the way dkrock says in post 6.

My understand is:
As long as you stay on a 1h chart, the 4h MA generated by the MTF indy is the same as the MA of 240 hrs (60hrs x4) AND is NOT the same as the 4H MA on a 4h chart.

I am not sure about the post #2 indicator as I am not familiar with it. I use an interpolated version MTF indi which returns exact results as regular built in MT4 MA on its respective timeframe.

Cool. Did you put the moving average on your indicator before commenting? Got a screenshot? I am always interesting in learning new technology. Of course, if you are using weighted moving averages, like EMA or LWMA, the data should change according the string length of the moving average. On SMA though, there shouldn't be much difference. The same price point on a 1M chart is also on a daily chart, well at my broker anyway. So if I average 100 data points on a 1M chart and 100 data points on a daily chart, it should be the exact same data points. I am not sure what you are implying, but I welcome further explanation.

Wow! I am very impressed. I have no specific mathematical skills or knowledge like you, in fact you confused me with your articulate comment. I simply applied the moving averages and noticed a significant difference. I have no clue as to how they work other than the common basic knowledge most have regarding moving averages.

When applied the aforementioned method the values were different. Whereas my MTF indi values are spot on. Now one though...It's entirely possible that the broker server time zone has an implication not sure....I am with a US broker GMT -4.
Almost forgot: I am not able to share a screenshot as I have now left my terminal.

Rest assured that I applied the indicators and observed the difference.
To clarify I used SMA not weighted etc. indeed.

Also I applied the built in MA indicator not the MTF from post #2.

Basicall applied the 60 SMA on a 4HR chart and the value was differs rent from 10 SMA on a Daily chart.
Thanks. When you have the opportunity, please provide screenshots and the indicator, if you can. I build indicator settings on lower time frames to see higher time frames, so it would be useful if your method is actually more accurate. In my experience mtf indicators are not only the same as manually calculated ones, but often their drawings appear choppy.

I have a question though while I am waiting. If the lines are drawn different, how do you know your indicator is right, and the manually calculated moving average is wrong? I am really interested in seeing this for myself. Thanks again.

I know because my MTF indicator's values are identical to the MT4 MA.

As well, the lines are not choppy like all MTF. They are rather straight. You can slightly see where the TF changes but slope is still there.

Again you suggested applying the MT4 SMA 60 into H4

Take the value reading. Then apply same indi to Daily chart with 10 SMA. Notice that values are different.

Your method results in an approximation, not the true value.
Just look at the 6 H4 candles that span a complete day, the 60 SMA will be different for each of those 6 candles whereas if reflecting the 10 SMA from the Daily tf, all 6 candles will have the same value.

Not sure what the candle design has to do with the moving average. It is just a stop in the measurement. If you are only measuring one period, maybe it would matter. But, if you span 60 periods on a 4hr chart, you are measuring 240 hours, right? Since there are 24 hours in a day, then on a daily chart, that would be 10 periods. I still don't know what math you are using, but it isn't adding up to me. The moving average is measuring average price. A candle is determined by the high and low. Two entirely different numbers.

Hi Rockerzeus, this indicator doesn't seem to work where the chart is in higher time frame than the intended MA. For example, my chart is now in D1 time frame. Say, I wish to see SMA 50 line of H1 (60 minutes) in that D1 Chart, this is what I've seen in my chart:


It doesn't seem right. Please advise on the above. Thanks.
