i am looking for a simple indi that uses 4 buffers to plot OHLC of a bar x periods ago (specified by the user in an external variable). TIA...

I hope you find time during next holiday season to modify this indicator to include currency pair and TF input in this indicator. The idea is to group together seven pairs of a particular currency on a chart or bring together same currency pair in different time-frames for assessing strength and momentum.

7 pairs would require 28 lines.
MT4 only has 8 buffers so it is not possible I think?
And that is even before considering TF.

I have been using very effectively an indicator which plots strength and weakness based on MA distance very visually.

I am able to obtain major currency group's MA strength/weakness from this indicator for short-term momentum trading. It captures very effectively a race by different currency groups to gain strength. The indicator gives cues to a trader who has to take call on what could happen next. It is a very effective timing tool for a manual trader and completely does away with implusive trading. The winning rate can be 60-90% of the time if a confirmation is obtained.

I think by stacking seven symbol pairs in BarsBack format I will be able to assess the strength based on price strength itself as against MA strength.
This will act as a confirmation of the group's strength.

If the coding process allows inserting symbol and having 7 pairs on the chart without using too much of CPU that also will do. MTF will help but not essential.

If you think any other visual method of confirming the strength of 7 pairs in a group by showing pip bar histogram can do this confirming job, please do it whenever your time permits.

I am attaching a multi symbol chart indicator to make clear what I am looking for.

It doesn't help visually to see which pairs are moving in tandem or not.

This indicator is available free on the Internet but mql is not supplied.

If related seven or even five symbols of a major currency are stacked in different windows then it is easy to visualise and plan timing of the trade.

For instance, just an hour before the court decision the GBPAud and GBPNzd started moving in one direction giving tremendous boost to GBP giving an alert multi symbol chart watcher an opportunity to make quick 50 pips on gbpaud or gbpnzd.

The attached screenshot shows EUR & CHF as the strongest currencies on all TFs with the CAD & AUD the weakest, and NZD joining them after the London session. GBP was one of the weaker currencies during the London session into the US but only reduced weakness toward close of London session.

I think I did not clearly enunciate what I want. My apologies.

Actually, the indicator draws price action for an additional symbol as a sub-window on the main chart.


Actually the idea is to add multiple copies of the indicator to the chart - up to seven sub-windows of major currency group pairs - without pressuring CPU too much.

If possible , a moving vertical line on the main chart will help to align with the sub-windows pip bars/candles/line. Input may have mirror function.
Time frame input is desired if coding process allows it.

The intention is to get a quick way to compare the price action on the major currency, say GBPUSD against other symbols such as GBPJPY, GBPAUD, GBPNZD, etc.

I would first identify which group in my view is getting stronger based on price action and moving average and then compare the price action on all the pairs of the group to decide which pair shows good possibility of giving results.

LWMA indicator provides good visual format for momentum up and down bar moves.
If this can be modified for using different symbol and TF (if possible) and if up and down bars can't be coded for the indicator then it is better to use this indicator inserting 2 in the average input and capture the price action as close as possible.

One minute I think you want strength meter and later I think you want lines.

Attached indi to show different pair as requested and as you say you could stack sub-windows to get what you want.

In order to make myself clear I copied the blurred image from Google site but could not find the indicator. Had I got that one I would have attached here the mql and exe with a request you to modify with a up and down bar histogram.

I am quite sure I don't need strength indicator . I am looking purely for price action.



I have come across this LWMA indicator which shows the kind of histogram I am looking for.


If you can please code it to accommodate the inputs for Symbol and graph style (line, bar, candle) and if possible time-frame, I will manage by making it mimick pure price action histogram by inputting 2 as LWMA period.

The matrix of sub-windows for different pairs really helps in zeroing in on the momentum .

Thank you for the line indicator. It is working well and good for comparing 2-3 indicators.
But for comparing more than 3 indicators bar histogram as requested earlier is quite useful.
Whenever you have time, please code it.

I am an ardent admirer of your indicators. Thank you for your help.

It so happens I have just come across the indy which would have been more appropriate than using LWMA as a makeshift.

Any way, if you can please include just symbol part that will be helpful. color and thickness of the bars change is already dealt with in the indicator.
