I went back and read your edited previous post. It seems they have been tarnished by association. The reason given was:- "We cannot have this topic of discussion on our main forums as we have endured multiple promotional and spamming campaigns from this organization."

I was not aware of (soto vocé) Armada, until recently/today.

I wish to add that since opening my demo account with LMAX I have not personally received a single marketing email, spam communication, or other nuance beyond the reasonable 'welcome to LMAX ...' stuff. I guess I am expecting some as the end of the 90-day demo session draws nearer. I have also had reasonable response from their support people to the limited requests I have made for help in getting the web-based charts running; which were down to the same problems I had with Dukascopy/Java/Comodo-Firewall.

Personally I do not think much of the charts, and I use other free stuff on the web and watch pricing on the platform - which seems pretty good.

I dont think lmax themselves ever spammed, but Armada did. Besides that, i suppose its a similar situation with MBTrading and Pepper, as far as i am aware they never spammed either. Basically you need to pay up and get a banner.

Its not a big deal anyways.

Seriously, when I read your post that mentioned MBT, I was like.. "but they aren't commercialized, they've been in the broker's section forever..." Then I looked up what's been happening recently with them and the post above stood out.

Sad really. FF vengeance burned them since they stopped being sponsors, no other reason. And jleblang only did support on the forums, he doesn't even post marketing or promotional material...

Its ok tho, they are running a business and try to monetize their site traffic in the best possible way. FF never claimed to be a charity, nor can they be, they need to cover expenses like staffing, development, hosting and so on, and then there should be a profit left too.

I wish they did it in another way. Because as a FF-user, i kind of feel treated as an idiot, when i get told that it is to protect me from spammers, when infact its all about the ad dollars. Its perfectly legit for FF to persue their economic interests, i just think there must be a better, more transparent way than this.

But there is worse, as always. If you look at LeapRate for example, they explicitly tell their readers that they are taking a big risk with the saftey of their money if they don't choose a LeapRate-approved broker.

Yeah, between that, and winning the 'false positive' commercial member lottery... you can understand why I'd be sour on the subject. ;P

No matter though, the new designation pushed me to expand my own site and contribute to it rather than hang around here.. FF lost out in the end, and I have an awesome place to call my own little corner of the net (which, funny enough, remains non-commercial in nature.)

I'm curious as to why some members that get moved to the commercial section lose their "V,s" and others don't. It doesn't seem fair.
