Hey guys,

It's me again.. Anyway, I've just finished Charles Faulkner's section in the New Market Wizards and I'm just amazed at what he presented there..
I guess it explains why I'm good at sports that I start with.. I'm good at copying what I see..

I'm not going to buy the book yet, but if ever I want to study about it more, do you have any book about NLP that can teach you more about the subject?
Although I think that the chapter in The New Market Wizards will be a good reference..
I'm thinking that there will be questions left unanswered..
So just to have a backup plan, I have to have a book in mind in case that time comes...

Again, looking forward to your inputs..

Regards,
East

I read this one: Introducing Neuro-Linguistic Programming: Psychological Skills for Understanding and Influencing People - Paperback, by Joseph O'Connor, John Seymour It was interesting, worth picking up a used copy from Amazon.

I've been following the progress of the NLP field for several years. One of my favorite sites and product lines is found at http://www.learningstrategies.com and my favorite -blow-your-mind NLP is their http://www.learningstrategies.com/Paraliminal/Home.asp Paraliminal serries. In short what takes place is within the concept of say "Belief" or "Personal Genius" just as two examples the speaker talks into your right earphone in an analytical manner/info and into your left earphone is a artsy-imagry story. It is sooo cool to have both going on at the same time. Crazy thing is after you are done you somehow have gotten "the message" and are the better for it. I use the http://www.learningstrategies.com/Pa...nal/Genius.asp Personal Genius before i sit down at the charts each trade day. Gets my mind focused on what i want to absorb and learn.

Well worth the few bucks for the audio CD's that are played through stereo headphones!!

Thanks too accrete!
Will look into this site. I asked because I don't want to run into a scammer.. which is very easy to encounter in the net today.

Thank you very much too for the input. I guess if I have some questions about it, I know who to approach (plus our psych doctor here in FF of course)..

Regards,

The founder, Paul Sheele is a world leader in NLP programing and a wonderful public speaker and corporate motivational speaker. Excellent service and staff. No scam there for sure! I've probably purchased nearly two thousand dollars worth of their stuff, including one called PhotoReading... It allows you to actually read a typical paper back book in about 10 minutes with good comprehension. I didn't believe it would work, but it does!!! Bizzar stuff. IBM used the P.R. training for their technical sales staff. The staff was able to read the technical manuals of not only their products, but their competition and have recal of the info while out in the field! Very handy!

Cheers

I say bizaar too! But as I've just discovered, we only need to unleash our mind. What a great gift our mind is. And I think it all comes down to us if we want to maximize its capability or not..

Oh by the way, thanks again for that additional info.
Thanks also too PH!

Okay, I've made a list here so that I can come back to it in the future for reference:

Anxiety-Free
Automatic Pilot
Belief
Deep Relaxation
Get Around To It
New Behavior Generator
Personal Genius
10-Minute Supercharger

OK i had to add this since we are on the "Sreatching the mind" topic. I got wind of www.learningstrategies.com through a sister company called www.centerpointe.com , go to the site and order the free demo. It is only a small taste of what you will experience if you get the "Holosync Solution" cd set. . .

Oh my, blow your mind? Seriously blow you away the first time you experience it! What it does is force your mind through the Beta>Alpha>Theta>Delta brainwave states in about 30 minutes. You do this for a week and then you can listen to stage 2 which keeps your mind in the Delta for another 30 minutes. Why is this cool? Well as a long time Christian Mystic, i've been following the eastern methods of controling the brain waves down to lower states to enhance meditation (among other things, the ability to lower my bp to about 80 over 50 with a pulse less than 50 while meditating). Lab results show that anyone with normal hearing in both ears has the same meditative state and master Yogis who have practiced for 20 years or more! This is a stereo audio cd, listened to through headphones. What you conciously hear is nice rain and some large, low tone tubular bells. There is no subliminals stuff going on, just the science to get the brain waves into the various states.

Talk about a peacful way to begin the day!! After doing this for a year+ there is no other way i'd want to start each day.

Astounding accrete!
I think I have to slow down a bit now and not let my emotions get hold of me...
I'll be taking things one small step at a time.. I still have Dial and Jim's sections to catch up on.. Plus another pass at Fiji's section..

I'll be restructuring my plan to include the study of NLP.
I like to have a vision first of which steps/path will take me to the peak of the mountain that will give me the richest experience.

Well, off to the marathon again..

Ey ey, me too me too!

Well, this is going to go heavily on my mind.
Once I get my next pay check, I'll order those goodies in no time..
I can't remember where I got this... something like:
"how do you know what you want to do?"
"it's something you'll pay for just to be able to do it."
or something like that..

Don't you just love what you learn from trading?
I'm still down with my accounts but the loss is nothing compared to what I'm learning..
I can honestly say that what I'm learning here and in the PF is the most enriching experience I have ever had.
Specially with communications with other traders..

I will get there.. Or should I say, just wait for me there..

I had a wonderful time reading 'Frogs into princes' by R. Bandler.

It is my understanding that the concept of NLP started as a Ph.D. thesis by him and his colleague dr. Grinder as a study on human genius.
Since that reading a book out of two I read is about that subject, and I felt really compelled to mention this one because it opened a golden door in my mind.

Happy trading

Great thread. Any opinions about what CD would be best to improve self discipline?? This is my biggest challenge at this time and I know I need to take the time to improve this.

Would the New Behavior Generator CD be a good start or???

TIA

self discipline can be very tough. Finding a routine and sticking to it is one way to get the ball rolling. In your trades, do the same thing. Be systematic in your approach.

The cd's can help by eliminating the negative junk that get in between the cracks of your everyday thinking. The kind of stuff you may have glossed over. 1 example is self defeating - things like calling yourself names. On the surface it seems funny...but it hinders growth. Kind of like some trades earlier this week.

Say you went long the GBP/USD, it doesn't work out. Like Vegas said, you got the off color marble, but how you act after that either keeps the cycle of success or failure alive in side you.

Yes I do need to develop a daily trading routine......and commit to it. I think I will develop a check list for myself to go through before, durring and after trading. I have come to realize that I am my biggest problem to making consistent profits trading. I would like to see more of these "mental" threads as that has such a great effect on trading performance.

I just saw the movie "What the bleep do we know" and that was very enlightening as far as past experiences effecting current perception and much more.

Thanks for the mental (dare I say it.....) stimulation.

What the Bleep was a fun viewing, and though some of the comments/conclusions i did not fully agree with there were still many I did!
There is an interesting read along the lines of What the bleep called "Biology of Belief", and then my all time favorite book on quantum physics by a PHD Physicist Gerald Schroeder; "The Science of God". Both books share the concept that current scientific studies/evidence point to the idea that we are spiritual beings living out a physical existence and that as an underlying foundation to all that exists is this same "energy" that each of us is made of. And that ancient techniques such as QiGong (EnergyWork) can allow the body to get in harmony w/the "energy" of the universe.

For the pre-trade-pick-me-up, i've found nothing more enjoyable than the 15 minute audio paraliminal session :
Personal Genius

Cheers,
Thom

Hi All

I would just like to say that the personal development part of life will not only help in trading but all other aspects to. It was through my trading over the last 5 years of losing the made me look deeper at myself and found that I was actually suffering from depresion brought on by things that had all happened in my childhood, by consistently losing in trading and knowing that it was self sabotage making me lose it made me look within and find help. There are hundreds of ways out there to do this including NLP hypnosis self-hypnosis spiritulism and I have studied all of them and enjoyed all of them. The good part of it is that my trading has now calmed down alot and I believe in myself to be worthy of any monatry gains that come my way.

Doing self work actually became very enjoyable to me and I'm glad I found it.

Good luck to all

Jon

Just saw the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know" reminded me of the Silva Mind Control Method that I took several years ago. Got into the alpha and delta waves... but had a method of controlling ones own mind... not someone elses to accomplish a purpose, to change one's life, to help another because we have a common consciousness level.

Why am I not trying that with trading? I do not know!!! It worked pretty well for me earlier in my life, prior to trading so apparently I have the... " it worked so well I stopped using it" syndrom. Anyway:

For those who saw the movie and/or believe strongly in a common consciousness, the power of positive thinking on a large scale, the Force, the Oversoul etc, ect..... Remember the reference to the thought experiment in Washington DC regarding the reduction of crime by 20 % and that it was reported to actually have happened?

I propose an experiment where believers select a certain same forex pair and everyone decides to contemplate, concentrate, pray, think positive thoughts, meditate... visualize ... etc..etc.. on moving that pair in a certain direction. Lets say .... long for a certain number of days or pips.

Although I have some background in setting up experimentation and controlling variables some input would be appreciated. For instance, lets consider a number of pips going long for the pair beginning on a Sunday at 5 pm and ending on the following Friday at NY Close. I also suggest not one of the major pairs. Everyone interested should put their money where their thought is by entering the market in the direction chosen. We would also have to decide on the amount of move and whether a move and then a retrace is ok as long as the number moved in the week hit the target. Everyone would have to visualize or use a mind method for a certain amount of time each day to move the pair.

I would like to look up that DC experiment to see what variables they considered. Any info???

Lou
