Since the market is made up of a two-sided transaction, it should be pretty self evident that somebody is always buying the low and selling the high.

95 % of all strategies involves sell low / buy high
95 % of traders are losers.
Coincidence?

Its possible but people are taking it out of context. They want a 100% safe trade but that's not possible, a lot of people use different things to determine if this is the bottom or the top. It seems to be a confidence/personal thing.

I assume original poster meant sell high and buy low.

If he is talking about selling low (and buying back lower) and buying high (and selling higher), then we call it trend trading.

Sorry but are you joking? Yes, it is always possible and as others have pointed out, selling low and buying high is going to end up in a loss so why would you want to opt for it? Well, if you are planning to lose out deliberately, just send some our way and we'll put the funds to good use.
All jokes aside, are you a beginner? If so, you may want to review some of the forex edu courses and the stickies in the forum.
Good luck!

Selling low/buying high is a very popular way to trade.
It is often called Breakout trading.
It means to sell when the market is breaking previous lows (sell low) or, alternatively, to buy when the market is breaking previous highs (buy high).

What he said. It's very profitable for some people.

There was in interview in Market Wizards II (Can't remember which guy) who's system was based on buying strength and selling weakness. When price was making all time highs he would buy and when it made all time lows he would sell - other people thought he was mad but he made a fortune doing it.

The trend is your friend until the end when it bends
Anything can happen.

Instead of listening to these knuckleheads, why don't you test this out for yourself. It's a fairly simple idea to test and you can do it with excel. Half the people on this forum couldn't find their own ass with two hands and a map.

i always ask myself this question:

1. If i buy here, would a typical retail trader mindset would buy it from me at a higher price?
2. Vice versa for sell

You have to anticipate the retail traders actions. It's like in order to trade like a pro, you have to think like a noob?

I have built an EA that trades these breakouts. If anyone wants it you can have it for free.

It works well on most settings and can be easily backtested. See

In order to profit you have to buy low and sell high or vice versa. A lot of people will tell you that it's impossible to do and that trying to identify tops and bottoms is a bad idea, but that's exactly how you make money speculating, period. Lots of bad, supposedly witty sayings thrown around to make people feel smart. Unless you're the type who just lets losses run and hopes it turns around into profit....

Do you really mean to say sell low buy back lower and or buy high and sell higher ?

If so that is the classic definition of trend trading.

Selling low buying high is probably like saying you entered short and was stopped out above your entry. Thus buying back your position.

Possible yes...clever, no...in fact, it's really really stupid. I think you are talking the contrarian strategy but you are misunderstanding it.

Contrarians look at it as an opportunity to get in a trade at a cheaper price. So they will buy while everyone is selling because they expect price to shoot back up above the point where they buy. This takes A LOT of practice and I couldn't name many traders that are effective at this strategy.

In Schwager's "Hedge Fund Market Wizards" there's exactly one single trader who's good at it...which should tell you how tough this strategy is. It also takes nerves of steel, so it's not something for everyone.

Did you lot read the heading correctly ??

Short at Low's will likely see lower and vice versa, people who buy low lose 95% of the time, no coincidence there, so perfectly good strategy if you can rewire your brain to work like that great I don't seem to be able to thus far.

Won't work in choppy markets so only trendy fashionable markets.
Nothing to it, but to do it!!! Stick to the plan FOOL!!!!

The above sentence is not quite right. You are attempting to pick the tops and bottoms.

In order to make real profits. you have to buy high and sell higher OR sell low and buy lower.

This is the favored strategy of most successful traders.

It is the reason that Momentum traders and BreakOut traders perform well. They are trading with the power of the market.

Correct no BS predictions and picking entry points, market is going up find a place to enter and go with it, trading is as simple as that, if you can let it be.
