Does anyone use CMS for their trading platform? I'm currently using FXCM, but i've heard because of their rather large account base, they tend to distort quotes. And their platform is sort of basic. If you could tell me of your experience with CMS.......good or bad would be wondefully appreciated.

I've been using it for a few months now. The charting is pretty good, and you can enter positions off the charts.

Why not download the unlimited time demo and play with it?

The demo is very much like the live one. Although I can't tell how the prices are like during news-releases as I don't trade those times.

I've been with them for about 4 months now and the platform as well as their feed is very reliable. I think it's been down only twice and they are quick to rectify the problem. On the downside, I find that they tend to requote much more than I'd like (this becomes more of an issue once you actually go live), so depending on how you trade, you may want to keep this in mind.

like i said, i'm really not sure how they'd perform during news releases with all those spikes ...

if you're a scalper or trade the news /etc ... you might want to check out the other brokers like interbankfx / oanda / and many others discussed in this forum.

I like the charts. I am only demo now and I have seen some glitches, especally on fridays, but remember that they have a whole seperate set of servers and software for their live accounts. They use the demo accounts like a high grade beta tester for new features. If you read the website closley they tell you this. I have heard few complaints from people using live accounts with real money and I plan to use them when I go live in a few months.

I have built my automated system on their platform. The forum for tech support on progamming and indictators is one of the best. A guy named Chris has helped me out quite a bit and he usually can fix my code in less than 24 hours.

You can go to the forums and see my posts there and what he has helped me do.

thanks,
Pip Hunter

I already commented earlier on CMS (http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...2&postcount=12).

I am a satisfied user.
I agree with Bluemeasure that requotes can often occur during busy moments (news releases).

Thanks guys for the reply. I'm going to go with CMS and leave FXCM. CMS has many more advanced features compared to FXCM (speaking personally of course). I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I have been using cms for a long time as well. Both demo and real.

HOWEVER... have recently been having several charts up at once and noticing that the system uses a lot of resouces. Things start slowing down noticeably. Not prices but being able to manipulate anyting on the charts or even the charts themselves.

Any comments?

Lou

My demo takes a lot of resources. My computer is on from Sunday afternoon to Friday with the charts on full time. I notice that after a few days I need to do a restart and that usually fixes it.

I will be building a new computer the first part of next year. I am only running a 1.4 gig chip and 768k's of ram w/nvidia nview software for my dual monitor. My next system I plan on building is a P4/ min 768k ram and the 4 monitor setup. I will probably only use 3 though.

Pip Hunter: I saw a post on the CMS forum where a user had the same problem you mentioned and it was the user was using an old VT version - have
you updated to the latest version dated 11/25/05?

Yes - It's the newest version. I have 9 charts up and 2 others for open positions and activities. I think it start zapping resources when you have multiple MA, Fibs, and all that good stuff inside the chart. I have my automated system attached to all of them so that may have something to do with the zapping of resources as well.

I like how they don't limit your demo account, and even let you have multi accounts up at the same time. I know a few people who trade with other brokers but use the VT charts and trading systems to get their signals.

Chris has mentioned a problem with system memory related to long-term use of VT. Shutting it down and re-booting takes care of it. I've had some frustrations with the software--like the navigation bar disappearing, number of bars that can be displayed--that others have commented on in that forum. I've switched to MT4 and consider it better and more stable for my needs. All that being said, it's still very good software and it's FREE.

I forgot to mention I love how easy it is to write indicators and systems in VT. I think anybody with a basic understanding of what they want to acomplish and is willing to read some simple help files can whip up any system they want to.

Another nice thing to mention about CMSForex: they do not practice "pip-stealing".

During some volatile moments today, I closed a 10 lots trade at (in total: 10 lots x 7 pips) 70 pips profit. In the moments between closing the trade and the acknowledgement of the closure by the VT platform, the rate shifted one more pip to my advantage.
When the system acknowledged the closure of the trade, I had come out with 80 pips.
CMSForex could have easily kept these extra 10 pips, but they did not. Nice!

I see many of you are satisfied with CMS.
I use CMS for my Live Forex Trading just for 2 weeks and I am not satisfied with them at all. Just yesterday alone, I got disconnected from their server 6 times. This happened quite often. Whenever this happens, Dealing Support said tried to log back after about 10 min. You all know 10 min. with open position in Forex is not a good thing. Someone told me that CMS often have a problem with their server when the market is volatile and don't bother calling/contacting their Dealing Support for an update. All they are going to tell you is that they are working on it.

However, I do like their easy to use, free charting VTrader platform.
I am looking for more dependable broker to open up another account. Any suggestion?

Is it possible that your internet connection was the cause. I know, that my internet provider routinely jacks my connection early in the morning 2-4 times per month. It's cable modem on a smaller cable company, but a good price and ultra fast(other than those 2-4 days)
I think they figure who's up at this time of day let do "maintenance"

Just a thought.
