Exporting data from Metatrader into Excel in real time

Hi Everyone,

I need some help and I know from the number of other people that have enquired about this that it would be of benefit to a lot of FF MT4 users. I have found some software which is available for free from a FF members website which (having spoken to the developer) could be adapted to provide me with what I want

The software is called Excellink and is available from the fx1.net website a link to which is shown below. I am also attaching the zip file which is available to download from that site. What I want to do is the following:

a) Transfer real time tick by tick data from Metatrader into Excel

b) Set up the excel spreadsheet so that a particular row receives the data from a particular bar from a particular time frame. So if you want each row to represent 1 minute you could have one row for 09.15 and as soon as that time finishes another row is formed for 09.16 etc

c) Show the Open, Close, High and Low for each bar

d) Be able to capture data on different excel sheets within the same workbook for different time periods simultaneously. So you could run one sheet from 1min and another for 5min etc

I have been assured by the developer that this is all possible but will need some programming

I would be really grateful of any assistance that could be provided

Have you tried the DDE option that is built in to MT4?

Hi, everyone,
I looking for solution reading data (value or string) from excel to metatrader. Excellink.dll is great tool but I have one probelm for me. No reading value from cell when its value is define as formula.
Example:
write value 100 to cell A1
ExcelGetValueCell(1,1) return 100 - it is ok
but if content cell A1 defined formula: "=B1+C1" function ExcelGetValueCell(1,1) return zero
and function ExcelGetStringCell(1,1) return - any as R2C2+R3C3

I want read content cell (no formula). It is old tool. I ask fx1.net we told no support.. :-(
Do you have anybody others *.dll files which it can read/write data from/to excel?

Hello ,

I want to connect my excel files with FXCM MT4 's DDE server .
I had tick enable DDE server and allow my FXCM MT4 to run , but the data is not coming to my excel .
Here's what I type in my excel column , example ='MT4'|BID!GBPJPY ; the data is not coming to my excel files.
I had also tried running FXCM MT4 as administrator , that didn't work out either .

HOWEVER , it works on other broker but not FXCM 's MT4 . Does anyone know how to solve this problem ??

Try rebooting and if that doesn't work, talk with FXCM support. It either works or it doesn't, there's not much to fiddle.

I have a custom mt4 indicator that allow us to export live data from mt4 to metastock, ninjatrader, Dynamic trader and much more like gannalyst....

Put this indicator in custom indicator folder of mt4
setting for indicator is ....



You can export as TXT or PRN.

Folks, this has been an issue of great interest to many, if not all! I myself attempted multiple times connecting Excel and MT4, but had no success. BTW, I was using Excel 2007 and Windows 7 Home Premium------NEVER WORKED! Most recently, I upgraded my laptop to Excel 2010 and Windows 7 Professional. And to my utter amazement, everything worked just fine! I opened the DDE-Sample.xls file which is in one of the Program Files (comes when you download MT4). When the file opened, all I had to do was 'Enable Content', which appears just below the Menu bar. Behind the scenes, this is the Visual Basic Code which runs in the background. The formulas in the file become active, and you can see their values change when values in MT4 change (before you open this file, make sure MT4 is active and running).

Once this file starts working, you can drop the Name of the Pair, Bid, Ask etc., from the MT4 field into Excel cells.

It is impossible to look at many charts all at one time in MT4, but you can easily compute the results in Excel for as many pairs of your interest, and see your bottom-line results!
The process above is very straight forward----Excel 2010 and Windows 7 Professional. I have not tested out Windows 8 or 8.1 for this functionality, hence can't speak for that!

I have the problem with me is not with excel
Everything is activated

Having the same issue today. Thought maybe the market just needed to be open but that’s not the case it seems. Something is up with the DDE inside MT4 in think. Maybe a new update is coming or something. My excel sheet was working perfectly last week and months/years before today.

for me, the problem mt4 was not run as admin now everything is running

Tried that and still nothing. I even open a blank excel sheet and place the bid, ask formulas in cells and nada...excel just gives me the working circle. It’s MT4 for sure as something has changed. Never any DDE issues in the past unless you change brokers with a suffix from a non suffix broker then you will get problems. That’s an easy fix though been there done that.

I do not know so much about it it was by chance that I found out that

I only work with tpo charts, if there would be an excel live table for that

No worries, as I’m sure others that use excel for reference like I do may be having the same issues. Ive done the best I can do to resolve the issue but there are many more with better knowledge than me with DDE stuff that may help. That’s what makes these forums so great as someone always knows something that works.
