Now I see. Yes, if you consider the 2 closes I see your point.

If I were forced to add another rule to the system, this time about TP size, I would feel very good about setting the TP at half that average number. Which would be around 35-40 pips in most cases. Oh wait, I'm already there!

I'm probably asking too much and being a lazy bugger but it would be nice if squalou's indi displayed the current number of bars in the CZ, saves me from the arduous task of counting them myself, what with the toothpaste eyes...

(incidentally, being an ophthalmic surgeon, I've never yet diagnosed anyone with "toothpaste eyes")

no, I don't mean the prescribed minimum. I mean the length of the actual current CZ (30, 42, 56 etc...). Although it's obviously easy to "eyeball" when a CZ is a good one, it would still be a nice addition.

Once the EA is ready the CZ will be operating under a more advanced algo. Right now the CZ is a prescribed minimum that never changes. But for the EA the CZ (white area) will be allowed to grow to any number of bars so long as the CZ never goes over X pips high. At that point, the number in the corner should be coded to change as the bars are added.

My settings:
BoxLength = 12
BoxTF = 5
AutoBoxRange = True
AutoBoxRangeDailyATRperiod = 100 (as per FH's suggestion)
AutoBoxRangeDailyATRfactor = 0.1 (as per FH's suggestion)
BoxBufferPips = 5

The M5 chart is my battlefield of choice.

Same entry rules as the M15 version, except I'm too chickensh!t to enter at the open of the bar after 2-bar close above the buffer in this EURCHF chart. I preferred to wait for a dip or at least until a 3-bar fractal low formed.

I bought at 1.10638 with SL at 1.1030, which is about 5pips below the lower buffer line. I put my TP order at 1.1100, close to the daily pivot. Even if I didn't leave that TP order, methinks I would've still closed out my long manually at that level when I saw spot seemingly stalled at the daily pivot.

My TP was taken out and spot never looked back. For now anyway. A waste but still, money in my pocket is better than none.

UPDATE at 0805 GMT: And look at the EURCHF go!! SNB had just set a minimum exchange rate target for EURCHF at 1.2000!

I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm not in the "convincing" business.
See, it's amazing how different perspectives get different results. I wasn't in the trade, but if I was I would have banked +22 pips and closed out any remaining trades at BE +1 on the reversal. Unlike forexhard and many others, I don't use the buffer zone, I enter on a break of the box which is just my way of trading it.

I notice it happen quite often that when price break the CZ for less than 30 pips,then reverse to break the other direction ..the reversal is much stronger giving us higher pips (maybe it's because the reversal caused by a very strong market mover) like what happen now to Eu..just my thought..

These types of reversals are inherent to any breakout strategy, you just have to be prepared for them. I always place a Buy stop or Sell stop (depending on what the first trade was) at the opposite side of the box using double the lot size (martingale is my thing for those who know me). Was anyone in on any of the Chf pairs??

Usd/Chf- 697 pip spike
Eur/Chf- 1080 pip spike
Gbp/Chf- 1128 pip spike

Thanks for the sharing Mer ..I also thought to place 2 position (one at the other end of the CZ ,maybe 5 or 7 pps higher/below Buffer )..If you don't mind sharing , what's the results (win/loss ratio) to have double position in both end of CZ ? cause the risk will be twice when there's a whipsaw..

Hey guys, thanks to your indicators and strategy I was in bullish mood this morning and did my fill on EURUSD at 4095 long. Guess what then happend ^^ thanks to the SNB spike it flushed in some 2-3 months gains at once ... I know this was an enourmous lucky thing, but if your box hadn't told me the level, I maybe had missed it due to pivot at 1.4109 and a maybe reversal ...

I am facing one trouble, I am glad if you explain.

As in pictuer blue box for brake up created AFTER BRAKE UP.

I mean last euro movment I continously watching this chart its not created during 405 ~ 409.

I restart my platform when price 416 range than, sudenly i see that box.

let me know is that any settings problem?

box was there on my plateform,it might be just some technical problem with ur indi or plateform.

Not tryna be a douche but... does it matter lol. haha!!

Looks to me like a lot of the big boys just took some profits from the past weeks sell off. Zoom out on ur chart and see how it steady dropped for damn near the whole past week. So would make sense for them to pull out some gains (probably millions).
