Just a question about the profitability of the systems you all all use over longer periods of time. I've been building a system which has been showing great results. But while it has been consistently profitable for some months, I worry the profitability may be cyclic, and an extended period of losses could follow. If this is the case and the long periods of losses outrun the long periods of winners, then the system is going to prove itself a waste of money. Positions are held from a few hours to up to a few days usually. I should add that my system uses a basket of currencies and requires me to be in the market almost constantly.
So my question is simply this. Do those of you using smaller timeframes (especially hourly) find your systems can be immensely profitable for months at a time only to then underperform or run losses for months at a time? Or do your systems on average bring similar returns from month to month?
Thanks for your input
