No one knows how the market will react to any given news announcement, but at times it's fairly easy to guess what may happen. Say, for instance, the unemployment rate doubles... probably easy to figure how the market will react.

Now... no one knows what the news may bring... but then... that isn't exactly true is it? Last week NFP data came out and 5 seconds later a complete article was written about it. Someone had to know the data before the official announcement to write this article, no?

The questions are this... Is the data available to a certain few people early and who are these people that are able to write these articles/news releases?

Total noob question... but something I still wonder about...

I figured the articles were typically pre-written both ways (positive and negative). Then all they would have to do is input the numbers. This is far more interesting. I wonder if these writers ever have to use the bathroom during those fifteen minutes

Interesting... I wonder if they take their cell phones away from them during those 15 minutes?

I was going the "they write one good/one bad" theory too...

Thanks for the info Merlin!

The reporters who are allowed in have no contact with the outside world. Any attempt would disqualify their firm from future privileges I would assume. If you want inside info it may be better to know someone who crunches the data before it arrives or maybe a politician... heehee
