Meta-editor messed up

Hello everyone!

i just noticed my Metaeditor is messed up.
please see the 2 images below.
1st image shows Metaeditor when i attempt to view a code.
it has black areas around the code. when i scroll down & back up again, the black areas disappear, but then i see the 2nd image.
the 2nd image shows the code's words, punctuations etc are messed up (letters, words, punctuations appear 'duplicated' in other places).

it might have been caused by either of 3 things:
-i 'customized' my Windows (i tried to strip Windows down, removing some unnecessary stuff). i like tinkering [i modified the Windows theme thru Display Properties > Advanced button, as shown in the images; i tried to 'troubleshoot' by changing the colors on the Advanced properties, but nothing has changed]
-i made some minor Windows registry 'hacks' (related to boot-time, mouse movement, program closing speed, etc)
-my MT4s are not updated. they are version 225 or 226





im using Windows XP. i believe the Windows theme im using now is Windows Classic style.

it's not a major issue. i think i can just use the Notepad to view/modify codes, then once done, i can simply transfer the code back to Metaeditor for compiling. any other suggestions?
if i can solve this messed up Metaeditor, of course that would be great.

I not sure but it appears that windows is forcing MT to use equal spacing with referance to the black space after each word. I am not sure what its called but MT doesnot use equal spacing for charaters that is 'I' will use less space then 'W', however it looks like MT is being force to used equal space for the charaters which appears as black space after each word.

did you change any thing to do with the way charaters appears in window?

hi SC, i'm afraid you have just found the holy grail code...

You have set it to a proportional font. This is causing the problems.

By default it will try to use Courier New, maybe you somehow managed to remove this font from your system. There is a setting in MetaEditor for the font with only a few choices and if these are not enough then there is also a configuration file where you can insert any font name you wish (my personal favorite coding font is "Envy Code R", size 10).

Make it use a fixed-widh TrueType font and all your problems will be gone.

7-bit,
i checked my Windows fonts folder.
i didnt remember deleting Courier New, but the folder shows i did.
i restored it & everything is normal now.
i'll tinker with Metaeditor more now.
