I'm not sure it's their problem, I have a lot of applications running on my system and even so changing chart times in MC takes a matter of seconds for me!

You're the lucky one, Dave. The tick charts are clean. I can't use tick charts- I think they'd send me to an early grave!

Really? OK, thanks, for that, Bleek. but I know you're a 5 min chart trader and they seem quick. Is it still fast if it's a new chart and timeframe that you haven't used before, like a daily chart from their server?

Daily charts seem to take the longest to load (I know it gets faster once you've already used it and it's then cached in your history). I found that on my PC it's a lot slower updating charts than metatrader. My broadband connection is 20mbps so it's not that.

I've just checked opening muticharts with their preconfigured workplaces of 12 charts took 1 min 50 secs to load and mt4 with 27 charts takes about 20 secs. I don't have anything else running- I've tried turning off the antivirus as I thought that might be interfering- no change. When I spoke to lmax last week they opened up multicharts and admitted that their's was slow to start too. But if you're using smaller timeframes I think it's faster.

Theoretically tick and one minute and day timeframes should load fastest because these are the only resolutions lmax provides data with via their api. Everything in between day and minute has to be built up of 1-minute data. I.e. for 500 4h bars there have to be loaded 120000 1-minute bars and assembled into 4h bars..

Interesting mmm, but I've found in practice the daily chart is much slower than the 1hr or 4hr on first loading. Maybe this is one of the other "issues" that they are looking at.

Or possibly MC builds all higher timeframes from 1-minute bars uniformly, in which case the day timeframe would of course take the longest, since the most data has to be downloaded.

You're right, I didn't check daily before, just 4H, 1H, 30m, 15m and 1m.

Daily takes roughly a minute whereas anything less is literally 2 seconds.

I spoke to LMAX on the phone today and he said they are looking to aggregate all liquidity together so that MT4 clients can trade with non MT4 clients.

He also said that they want to attract EA traders and feel this kind of liquidity will be good for everyone.

I'll definitely be using LMAX for scalping. I already have EA's that I feel would work well in LMAX if the execution is as good as they say.

the best simply means better than the others

but it does not make other platforms fully unsuitable

everything depends on people who start a brokerage

if they wish to earn their living just providing financial services

recieving agreed payment

traders can call them brokers

but if they aspire to profit

intentionally misleading cliens about real trading conditions on offer

their true names will be scammers rogues and thieves

in this respect the broker's own platform is the most convinient tool

to manipulate pricing

like search engine built into operating system

and the example of such an endeavour is well known

microsoft produced macrobill(gates)

one should not be scared of a broker with mt4 only because it is mt4

one should be affraid of one's own naivity

not properly checking company's background

Hi, I was wondering if LMAX will negotiate it's commission structure?

As I understand from this thread the execution of orders are very quick with very little slippage during most of the trading day (outside of volatile market events) which I like, but the commission is quite a bit higher then say Dukascopy where a trader can get it down to a more realistic 16$ per million vs LMAX which seems to average 67$.

I do a lot of quick trades off of the minute chart so I need to be extremely careful of slippage, spread and other execution costs as well as commission so between the two entities (LMAX & Dukascopy) who do you think would be a better alternative? I phrase this question to the traders that have used them both in the past as well as now...
