Hi,

I am currently testing a method which I believe is profitable. See chart below.

I believe everyone can understand how I trade this system, right???

When Ultra Trend blue line is under red line, we short the market when the Kuskus indicator shows a retrace to the half line. We go long when the opposite happens. Any time frame.

Also, we short the market when the blue line crosses under the red line. And the opposite is for going long on the trade.

Simple and Easy

Before completely giving my support to this system, I have to ask you: do you know how those indicators work and exactly what they tell you?

I'd suggest that you get a piece of paper, write the formula for each indicator out and do some calculations by hand.

Are they really trend following indicators or stochastic indicators? This will be for you to decide.

I personally don't like anything that I don't understand. Just a little side note - I don't like how the ultra trend isn't very responsive to changes in price action...I haven't looked at the code, but I'm guessing it factors in larger and smaller time frames.

Hi there,
I don't know how to read code, but it looks easy just by reading the indicator charts. I do believe that the ultra trend indicator is like it says, its a trend identifier via smoothed moving averages and basically the same with the kuskos starlight indicator. These two indicators just tell you the direction of the trend based on their calculations, if i m not mistaken. i just ride the trend with a sl of 500-1000 ticks or if i get new information from the indicator charts. I have had success in backtesting manually. an ea would be great.

the above chart was done with 6 trades on eurusd all entered at the same time short. had to do it like this because i didnt know how many lots are required to fully leverage a 100000 dollar account balance.

....we short the market when the Kuskus indicator.....

When the what, the 'Kuskus indicator'? That's a new one!

Like Moody said I think I'd want to know what the indicator is made of if I'm going to use it to decide trades for me, it might just be based on a couple of lagging moving averages.

How does it perform in a ranging market, does it keep you out or do you get whipsawed all over the place, that's the real test for these trend following indicators.

Hi peoples,

Yep, trading fx for few years now, but total rookie on the forum. I scavinged quite a bit of good info over the past months, so decided to also share some ideas...

I like simple systems, no more than 5 indi's but primarily: I have a 55 EMA on all my charts. Stick it onto your charts & see how u can trade swings, breakouts, see how longer tf's just bounces of it ojn atrend, play around with it a little - amazing once you get the feel..
