Has anybody ever tried to write mql code to scan all symbols and timeframes for triangles (or other patterns)? I wonder what the best and most generic (or most useful) approach for such a pattern scanning/recognition algorithm would be.

I know there is pattern recognition software available.

maybe inside bars on higher tf, is triangles on lower tf

Try searching for ZUP indicator at www.mql4.com.

If you've not seen it already, I think the coding will be something you will be interested in.

I know Alpari have a pattern scanner like you describe. I think its free if you have an account with them.
