Hi Chris, I have been live trading with go markets for awhile now and you are part of the reason I choose go markets, I appreciate that your always here to answer everyone`s questions. Now I have a concern that I hope you can address. I choose this method of contacting you because I`d like to see if other members of forex factory care about this and if they do they can also let you know and you can bring this matter up with management to implement change in this area. My trading style makes heavy use of hedging and I noticed that the more hedges I put on the less margin I have, some brokers such as alpari uk count hedges as 1/2 positions and other brokers consider them neutral which is the correct way in my opinion. Is there any way you can change this. I await your response and thank you in advance.

Make your own judgment

http://www.smh.com.au/business/risky...0627-zbwb.html

"What is even more disturbing is that even after ASIC takes over the ASX's supervisory powers this year, the corporate watchdog's market integrity rules, which take in most of the ASX's old market rules, including powers to fine brokers up to $1 million, won't apply to this growing sector of the market."

"In many cases, these non-broker brokers have product disclosure statements showing that if the entity goes belly up, the investor becomes an unsecured creditor."

For those who shot me down with very personal and rude attacks
Have a look at what the popular media says

Hi, if you want to contact me directly I will be able to look at your account and explain your exact margining. I am a little confused about your situtaion because unlike with Alpari when you have a hedged position, there is zero margin requirement at GO Markets because it is neutral. If you think that your account doesn't look right, just give us a buzz and we will help you out.

Cheers

The new servers are not yet running, we will give all our clients information when this will switch over. This will be very shortly as the servers are installed and our IT team is doing all the necessary checks and installations before we make the switch. We are all looking forward to it as it is a massive upgrade and will mean even better reliability and speed of execution. The servers will be held in a top tier installation in Sydney, which is one of the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Chris thank you for answering my first question, now if you can answer my second. Would you consider dropping in general or just in my case the cut off margin level from 50 to 30, that would give people more flexibility in their trading.

I've had a live GoMarkets account for a while and am happy with them.

The GM iPhone app works fine, but is more suited to occasionally checking the account rather than active trading.

I was looking at a similar program for Oanda FX Trade for android. You are correct in a way. The desktop application would be more appropriate, unless

a) they provided full access to EA cabability, or

b) there is a way to somehow capture historical data and run it through a separate program that could then send orders back to the platform for execution. I would think that, at least for the android, this would be possible for the ambitious person.

I don't believe that is something that can be changed for an individual, but is a group setting, however I believe that 50% will have been put in place for a reason. I can raise the issue, but I can't make any promises.

It is something we have been looking at for a while now and trying to find a suitable feed. We have spoken to a number of providers, but a lot of them are essentially offering us a dealing desk product, which is obviously not what we want as we pride ourself on being STP and having excellent execution. I am confident that we will be able to get something sorted, and we will keep everyone in the loop.

Those are primarily futures products, unless you are thinking either CFD or other derivitives. Good luck with the search to find reliable, non-dealing oil and index products that are off-exchange.

Hi Snowman,

To confirm, our prices are scheduled to start at 9am Melbourne time. You may recall that we asked our clients what they wanted and if they wanted the start to be earlier etc. Our clients overwhelmingly asked us to start at 00:00 platform time as it meant they would only have a 5-day week in terms of the number of bars the charts would draw.

Some other brokers start earlier, and had our cleints asked for that, so would we.

Cheers,
Chris

Hopefully this will be possible through MT5, we have had extensive chats with reps at Metaquotes who have made it clear that MT5 will have DMA functionality which will be very useful for effective Futures trading through Meta.
We will not launch MT5 until it is running 100% smoothly and will also run MT4 alongside it as we know many clients will still prefer to stick to what they know and use MT4.

Cheers

The problem for which the MT5 won't be agreeable to many customers is noncompliance with the Expert advisor MT4 mql4.

In light of this there is hope that the broker continues to support MT4 still very long, taking into account the needs of customers.

As mentioned we will keep both formats MT5 and MT4 to appease all customers.
We have also discussed with meta about a converter from MQL4 to MQL5 and there is going to be one available if MT4 clients did want to switch to MT5.

Cheers

Just thought I would let you all know that the much discussed upgrade to our servers has begun. This weekend just gone we completed the transfer of our demo platform to a brand new server, located in a tier one co location centre in Sydney. The connectivity and execution speed seems to have improved even more than the excellent execution offered by the previous system, and this weekend we are scheduled to transfer the live server to an identical server. As we are now running on the new demo server, I would be interested to know how people are getting on with the demo this week?

Just for further information, the transfer involves our main trading servers. In addition to the main server, we will continue to run several data centres around the globe to further augment the trading infrastructure and ensure the best possible systems for our clients.

We will of course be confirming with clients before we make any switch over, but the only impact on your trading, if anything, should be improved speed and even better execution.
