I got an entry into Usd/Cad long a week or so ago for a long only to get stopped out at B/E just the other day and had been waiting for another entry and it happened last night while I was asleep, it is rather frustrating, especially when you take the time to check your charts every 4 hours when you can, only to see it gone when you can't.

I have no doubt that things will get better in the next month or so.

I believe this to be true. Of course....some guys only trade the weekly.....and that is easy to do.....just set your resting orders to enter at price "x", if you get a set up.

To me these days the highest probability trades are always when you get clear candlestick action at confluence of s/r (trendline and horizontal) on a weekly chart and I don't care of it means I take two trades a year as long as those trades are the best thought out and highest probability.

I am definitely considering using pending orders again, problem is I haven't got the time machine working yet, and therefore don't know where to place stops when I can't be there to watch PA.

Just a quick thought on something I'm about to start demo running myself.

Like you I trade live with Oanda. I've kept to daily bars but it has felt slightly limiting and so therefore here's what I'm going to do:

I recently got myself a new phone, with Android. The good folks at Oanda have made an app for Android which is quite alright imho. (There's one for Iphone too of course, if that's your preference)

As I always have access to a computer at work although I can't install software (like MT4... even Oanda fxtrade is pretty much blocked) on it I'll keep an eye through online charts on a few pairs on the 4H and use my phone for placing the orders and manage trades when I'm not at home.

My trading style will only require the occasional check and this way I'm hoping to retain the stress-free trading from the dailies while suddenly being able to trade intraday.

All it took was for me to get a new phone.

Just an idea and something I'll test.

Absolutely. No risk there though, my patients will keep me from developing bad habits.
A lot of my frustration is that I can check the charts all day long (8 AM PST to 12AM), I work nights, but get up early enough to do stuff.

All the trade set-ups I identify happen during London.

Watching the charts more won't change anything, watching them at a different time just might. It's aggravating because I don't have any issues waiting for a setup, I just get annoyed when I'm several hours too late to get a position size that presents decent RR.

Chris, does a cell phone have to be Windows based to run MT4?

My brother has an Iphone, and I know it cannot run MT4. He can run dukacopy, but I am not sure if it is very useful for looking at charts such as MT4 is.

I am going to get a new phone soon, and if I need windows based to run MT4, I will see if AT&T has a windows based phone to use instead of the iPhone (if that is what is needed).

To be honest, I have never seen an MT4 for iPhone, but I could be wrong......

Yea, I didn't think it could do it. I guess when I go to AT&T to get a new phone, instead of getting an iPhone I should get a phone that is web capable and has a Microsoft based software.
Well, the Euro could be firming against the Lira......if nothing else.

I use HTC Widefire phone but I don't know how I can get mt4 plaform working on it. Could you give me an hint, Chris, Pls?

HTC Wildfire is an Android based phone. You cannot run MetaTrader on it.

hey guys, there is some apps int he android market that allow you to connect to MT4 running on your Home PC. You need to configure your router to allow remote access but apparently it works well !

Hi Guys,

I have done extensive research into this area over the past couple of years and have to be honest that the iPhone and associated apps are MUCH better than the win mobile running MT4 option.

THe main reasons I say this are:

HTC make excellent phones but unfortunately Bill Gates' mob make s&*t operating systems and winMo is one of the worst.

MT4 mobile is a cut down version of the real thing and is not a replacement for the real thing.

The iPhone software from Dukascopy is probably the best mobile app I have found as it allows you to run basic indicators on charts however I am not aware of any mobile platform that allows you to trade with all indicators easily.

There are of course 3 options,

1. MT4 mobile (you can do better than this)
2. iPhone mobile (good, much better and faster than windows mobiles but still limited)
3. Run a VPN on your home PC and use your actual MT4 from your handset in either windows or apple. This is by far the best option and as phones develop faster and faster this is definitely the way to go. I have seen VPN running on an iPhone 4 and the new HTC and it blows the rest away when you NEED to chart or pull a fibo extension on something.

When you are simply trading, the iphone apps a streets ahead.

That said this is just my opinion but as someone who has forked out their hard earned on an HTC running winMo, and HTC running Android and an iPhone to see which is best I can confidently tell you the Apple whips the others in this area "at the moment". Can't promise it will remain the same in the future but at present that is how things lie.

CW - are you running MT4 with Dukascopy yet? Still says it's in beta testing on their website so I haven't reopened my account.

Hi mate,

Not at all, I am running their iPhone software but closed my live account a little while back until they started offering MT4. Just sign up for a 2 week demo and once it finishes the iPhone app continues to work. It just says that your demo has ended but you click ok and it all works fine. Just can't place demo trades any more.

Should test it out.
