DislikedAnother little known musician / producer is having a birthday today. Butch Vig, record producer and the drummer with Garbage, (1996 UK No. 4 single 'Stupid Girl'). Produced Sonic Youth, The Smashing Pumpkins' Gish and Nirvana's Nevermind album. I really liked Garbage....an great band that rocked the house in the 90's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypr18UmxOasIgnored
Nice one RJ and happy birthday to Andrew Gold as well.
Sadly, Janis would be dead within 14 months of Woodstock, where she was just 26 years of age.
The discussions suggest she was pretty wasted here for the concert and didn’t get onto the stage until 2am in the morning, a long lead up wait time for anybody with a penchant for “passing the time”.
But a true performer she came out and put on a set for the crowd. She loved the crowds, the audience.
Janis had already parted with Big Brother & the Holding Company, and had also left the Kozmic Blues Band, so this set was with the Full Tilt Boogie Band (Candian) backing her here.
Led by John Till on guitar with Cornelius "Snooky" Flowers on baritone sax, and Terry Clements on tenor sax.
1969. Janis Joplin - 0:00 Try, Just A Little Bit Harder; 5:18 Ball & Chain (Woodstock NY)
