Then long off the low, triangle shape for entry, notice how most of the price action is above the Asian Pivot, always look at crossing that. But first General Rule No consistent price action, price is bouncing up and down in small range at LO, we can go short at AH. Going into NY same applies from bottom, go long. {image}{image}

That's one of the aims of the thread.....
but of course it can never be totally unambiguous because there will always be interpretation, but to which extent....

I think what we can have is some kind of framework, that will evolve.

This was a good little setup to go short from AH, head and shoulders break.

I said in earlier posts, this is a classic pattern to look out for, it's the classic market maker pattern, that is unambiguous in itself but the chart especially at the edge is never clear, yours and my interpretation will be different if to it's valid or not.

i think that the bo o the asia high or low is totally unambiguous, but when you start adding pattern you are killing your treat.
buy if price closes above the 15 asia range high=that is just one horizontal line.
Fade the bo if price make a low below the high horizontal line rom above=totally unambiguous

Thanks, this should help you with your 'backtesting', I like to think of it more as historical forward testing, if you get what I mean.
Basic Instruction to the testing environment.

RUN
BSL expert advisor
have a plain chart template ready to load
Once it's loaded and it's running with the green line chart, load your template
Then Load the indicators
STAsianF
STAsian
STEAControl
STOverlayControl

Then it should work like it does in the video, but try it with just last weeks data first, the further you go back the problems you can encounter.

And I'm thinking a couple of hours on Sunday evening and Monday Mornings as a refresher before trading each week.

Here's one of the thoughts behind the levels....

If we strip it all down, as in, you get up in the morning (London Open) start with a clean chart, what's the first 2 lines your going to put on it 90%+ of the time? It's going to be the AH and AL, so you look for other support levels and mark them, so what will they be? A lot of them will be AH's and AL's from previous days, but which ones, how far do you drill down, which are most significant, mmmmmmm........ and then by the time you've figured all that out the markets just bounced off a nice trade from one of your SR lines while you're looking for more, in my view any SR line is just as good as another, so why not avoid all that questioning and indecision and stick to the same ones day in day out, then you're clear to focus better at what is actually happening in the particular market you're looking at. Now if that in itself in it's own context doesn't make perfect sense, I don't know what does, and when things start making sense like that to me, it's a very GOOD SIGN.

So we've had a bit of a discussion about price action, to clarify what that means to me here in this trade, patterns and shapes like head and shoulders and triangles mainly, you can go deeper and look for the MM shape, basically an Elliot wave kind of shape just with wider accumulation and distribution areas. These are key to your success, once you start looking out for them you'll be surprised to see their reliability. So the answer to 'Why complicate it? is, it needs to be, I had a good think about it and ran through the strategy tester so I could qualify my answer.

Imprint this pattern in your brain, look out for it, if you can figure if it's in an uptrend or downtrend i.e. in the right context you will have a very good edge.

I'm thinking 2 of them a week and you've got 10%, risking as little as 10 pips and looking at 30 to 50 pips return is totally realistic in my view, but at the moment it's a view, however a few hours on the strategy tester you can do weeks of trading and get the answer, this is what makes the difference, it's okay to look over a chart and see effective patterns but recognising them as the market is coming towards you is a different story, doing that gives you more of the experience that you get from actually trading so giving you valuable experience.

AND it REALLY is WORTH having your forex calendar open so you can see what news comes up, I spent too much time running through weeks of charts without doing so, it's barely worth the bother, so if you are running the tester, don't make the mistake I did for too long, you see I like to do the same mistakes over and over again until I know I've learnt my lesson properly, and now I have learnt it the hard way I feel I'm in a position to tell you the truth as I see it.

Gaps as well, this weeks research for me,

As it happened, cracking example on EU15, if that appeared coming into the NY session, you have a very high probability trade, as it is, who know by morning....

Current thoughts to sticking to the 5min - No

There's so much benefit to using multiple timeframes, just need to make sure I don't go down the rabbit holes they offer.
