This is not my idea, just happened to see it and post to share and ask for opinions on whether is this really profitable?

Description:
This is a 3-bar setup, but only one of the bars determines its direction on the next candle. Where the first two candles will produce the PIP range for a TP Target. This PIP Range can also be used for Stop Loss Levels so this approach becomes a 1:1 reward to risk.
Buy set up:
Bar (2) needs to close higher than the previous candle's high.
Bar (3) during its development, or when the candle has fully developed, price must touch Bar (2)'s open.
IMPORTANT: It MUST be the same bar type, in this case since both Bar 1 and 2 are Bull Bars, the 3rd bar must be a Bull bar on its close.
And this 3rd bar must close higher than Bar (2)'s close (preferably its high).
Enter a Long Trade/Buy on Close of Bar (3).
Calculate from the Low of Bar (1) to Bar (2)'s high.
This will act as your TP and SL Level.
Sell set up:
Bar (2) needs to close lower than the previous candle's low.
Bar (3) during its development, or when the candle has fully developed, price must touch Bar (2)'s open.
IMPORTANT: It MUST be the same bar type, in this case since both Bar 1 and 2 are Bear Bars, the 3rd bar must be a Bear bar on its close.
And this 3rd bar must close lower than Bar (2)'s close (preferably its Low).
Enter a Short Trade/Sell on Close of Bar (3).
Calculate from the High of Bar (1) to Bar (2)'s Low.
This will act as your TP and SL Level.

I've seen this kind of setup elsewhere, not sure where. Also, I think FxCyborg had something similar in one of his methods.

Regardless, I've coded up a quick indi to mark up those setups on the screen, much easier & faster than to try and decipher if each candle corresponds to the rules.
As always, the signals given are much less sexier than the initial screenshots provided, but that's the case of every single thread in FF.

The marks appear on the bar where you're supposed to open a trade (so, after the 3rd bar of the 3 bar setup has closed).
If you can visually filter out all those setups that don't make sense (time of day / low volatility / ...), and maybe include market structure, it could potentially lead to something.

Thanks for your indicator

I attached your indicator to the same chart and see there are 2 dots (highlighted in the white box). Is there some error?

Can you make another indicator that will make the rule more stringent, by changing this: And this 3rd bar must close higher than Bar (2)'s close (preferably its high).
Change to this And this 3rd bar must close higher than Bar (2)'s high.
Same goes for And this 3rd bar must close lower than Bar (2)'s close (preferably its Low). Change to this: Same goes for And this 3rd bar must close lower than Bar (2)'s low.

APPROACH WITH CAUTION...

This is yet another example of cherry picking in back test but real world application is doomed to financial failure

Good find. I agreed that the 1st circle will create a loss.

I don't agreed with the 2nd circle cause the 3rd bar does not touch the opening of the 2nd bar, so the trade won't be opened.

I don't agreed with the 3rd circle for the black bars as the 3rd bar does not touch 2nd bar's open too.

WOW, a 1-minute chart as an example?

Can you show a daily chart example so that actual comparison with indicators that now exist can be checked?

For instance, the 4-Bar Fractal Continuation which uses the Close of each candle, or the 3-Bar Reversal Method as already mentioned.

Probably just re-inventing analysis that already exists.

Good Luck

Môžete pridať upozornenie a upozornenie? Prosím. A nefungujú na spätnom teste.

Just an idea. A box of 0.3 ATR can be seen on the M15. The dot on the indicator is visible on H1.

There is someone who will write simple EA that would just open positions (nothing else)? In the last 9 days (with the help of a universal manager), profitable trades prevail over loss-making ones. On 28 pairs.

About € 200 a week at 0.1 lot. Filtration with two indicators. Maybe a coincidence. Too bad no one cares about the thread.

May I ask which two indicators you are using as a filter?

Thanks. It works exactly according to the rules. In the backtest. Does it have an expiration date or any other restrictions?

Good to know it works!

Yes, I set up expiration date to 3 months as I don't want my EAs to be sold, but I will upload a new version here when it expires. It's free without restictions.

Also I will modify it if someone is able to improve the strategy.

The entry criteria is not great.
Did you tested it over 5 or 10 years data?
I bet win rate is about 30%. Isn't it?

However thanks for coding it

I have nothing to do with the strategy, only coded an EA with the OP rules, it's on whoever wants to use it to test it and if it's kind enough then share the results although of the 41 downloads only 1 person did it.
