Update to Post 80171,
As posted I left a Buy and Sell over the weekend....Both now closed with over 200 pips.
Just watching charts at this point in time.

Hello all. I am looking to gather more understanding on Fundamental analysis. This is now the second time I have perceived a major "weekend Gap up", just for the gap to be filled relentlessly. I have seen a few major trader say things along the lines of "fundamentals are not as reliable in todays markets" (Fabio Valentini, James Bentley)
or the classic "Buy the rumor, sell the news" I am not new to trading, but have been trading gold only for the last 7 months; It seems that when I give more than a little attention to fundamentals, I get burned to varying degrees.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Just trying to get better.

Fundamentals are reliable but one's gotta know when the news become "old news". It's been two days since US bombed Iran. Nowadays algos reacting to the news in miliseconds. Most news generally get fully "priced-in" and become old news in a matter of an hour (an hour is optimistic) if not in a few minutes. That's why most trading institutions mainly switched to automated trading years ago.

As retails all we can do is just react as fast as we can (we'll still be far behind) and use trailing stops.

I don't understand regarding you left buy and sell open over the weekend at the same time. I mean if you have both buy and sell, effectively you are having zero positions, aren't you?

So far 3400 seems far away every slight move up is met a quicker move down.. bulls need to break above 3370 area before opening up 3390 which seemed to be a big resistance area last week

Fundamentally the war so far has not escalated into WW3. It seems China and Russia have not made any major moves to support Iran. If so business as usual.

today Monday has some Friday stuff / news etc./ because of US Holiday last week..,

imo, 3426th-3284th is possible weekly range with 3360th area as a magnet
