For banks it is inter-bank. For us we pay what our broker asks for. Banks don't do anything for free. Oanda did used to have to better swap rates, they also used to pay interest on your balance, but overall these amounts are negligible for me and my trading style. Cost of doing business with a a good USA based broker. My only other choices are TD Ameritrade and Gain Capital(FOREX.com) unless I get my hands on $10,000,000. In that case I can move to Interactive Brokers.

Can a Canadian citizen fund with an E-transfer to Oanda from a Canadian bank?
Anyone has two account for oanada.
One is mt4 and the other is fxtrade.
It seem both has two different spread when I trade both at the same time.
Was thinking of changing broker. Their swap for this year seem so high. Why should I pay swap when other broker offer no spread

I have both accounts as well but only trade through the FXTrade. I have NEVER SEEN a difference in spread OTHER THAN SOMETIMES a small lag between MT4 charts and FXTrade live charts. That happens because price has to travel through Oanda servers to MT4 servers to you than back. 1 extra stop.

As far as swap goes, your statement does not make sense. Swap and spread are 2 different things. The swap they charge is in line with all other top/trusted brokers around the world. The spreads they charge are competitive during liquid times.

I have an account with Oanda since 2006 and the only problem is that it raises spreads during the news otherwise it's a perfect broker for me especially since I funded my account only during 2006 and after that I withdrew profit many times. I never tried TD Ameritrade but I tried Gain Capital and Interactive Brokers. Gain Capital is good because it offers MT4 so you have a wide choice of EAs and custom indicators. Interactive Brokers' best asset is it's low spread; the worst is their platform that is lousy and this is the reason why I quit using that broker. It's a lot better to pay a little more spread and be able to trade the way you want instead of being so limited that it hampers your trading.

I think that like all web trader software nobody can make a custom indicator for FxTrade. In my 13 years with Oanda I always used their MT4 platform.

Hey Hutch,

Just to be clear, spreads are ALWAYS raised by any reputable broker against any trade-able asset, not just Forex, because dynamic spread is based on liquidity. Less liquidity, higher spread. Supply vs demand.

Oanda does not allow for custom indicator on its FXTrade Web platform.

That is an image of Oanda Advance charts, which is hosted through TradingView. You can make custom indicators for that.

I wish you luck in getting your hands on $10,000,000 but if you did it would be totally insane to trade with Interactive Brokers because there is only a $500,000 account protection in case of the firm goes bust but with a total limit for all the claimants of $30 million. It's, therefore, vey unlikely that the protection of $500,000 per customer would be honored.

OANDA has a massive security breach this weekend. Logging in to the web platform (not the desktop software) is giving me access to the accounts of random clients each time. I've taken loads of screen shots of the accounts of other clients.

OANDA has no 24/7 security contact info. This is gross incompetence.

As soon as they are open I will be closing all my positions (even at a loss) and closing my accounts with them.

I suspect it is their weekend software update gone awry, not hacking, but still they can no longer be trusted with my money.

I have been with Oanda since 2006 and never had any substantial problems. My MT4 works properly. I wish you good luck finding an honest and better forex broker.

I had no clue what an E-transfer was but I found this video. As far as I'm concerned E-transfers are not safe so if I were you I would never use them. Just my 2 ¢

I very much prefer the platform... I just see the market so well in the fxtrade.. they either hit the sweet spot or I am too conditioned to read the market from it since it was my first platform... I like reliability, I feel safe, money seem to flow in out without problems, deposits, withdrawals..
But what I absolutely dislike is this new regulation that limits leverage, auto-margin-close on 3rd NEG day at certain hour....etc.... strong dislike.. at least for "burner" or "high-risk" trading accounts.. for safer (low-risk) accounts seems to still be a good reliable choice...
Can you afford to take that chance?

Hey Hutch,

There is no way in hell I would deposit 10mil in any one place. If/when I get that kind cash, I would stay far away from Forex or any trading for that matter. 10mil is full retirement money LOL...
