I backtested this system over last last year and I think it made around 70 times return on invesment. I think end of December and January was a bad period for all breakout strategies because the range was very low. Volatility was also extrememly ...

But an EA that trades with a high RR value is bound to have some lengthy sequences of losses. Then it requires the trader to make a decision as to whether they should continue, so the psychological issue is always there. I think the point of their ...

Hi Grant, the closing candle on 31/12/09 was 17:00 gmt and the opening candle on 03/01/10 was 21:15. I'm with FXCM and I'm using the low price for my EMA. I think I need to do some more backtesting with these settings. I noticed you used 1-minute ...

This is a very tough decision. I need to write down some of the pros and cons. If anyone can add to these I'd appreciate your advice. The reason I'm changing broker is because I need to automate my strategy so I've narrowed it down to reputable ...

Thanks for your advice. To be honest I'm still really undecided. The reason I'm looking for a low spread is because my trading is systematic and a higher spread could lead to some of my trades not taking profit. It seems that IBFX have a decent ...

Hold on, I got my calculations all wrong with MB Trading. 1 pip = $1 on a mini lot, so the $0.60 commission is the equivalent of 0.6 pips.

IBFX, MBT, Alpari — Hi Peter, could you tell me what the current spread is for GBP/JPY with IBFX? On their website it says that it averages around 5.5 (and as low as 2.0) but on my demo account it's fixed at 8.0 pips... I'm trying to decide ...

I don't think it's entirely irrelevant because you've labelled Jacko's trading as "simple and blunt guesswork". This suggests that you don't believe a simple strategy can work but you still say that a return of 1500-2000 pips is possible with 2 or 3 ...

Hi Dan, I'm thinking about entering A/U at 0.9200 with a stop loss of 100pips. If the trade goes against us we have the choice of applying the AH i.e. if price goes down to 0.9000-0.9050 area we could enter an AH order to go long at 0.9100. Support ...

EUR/USD — I'm 50:50 on this one. From the end of Nov' 07 to Mar '08 it took several attempts to break 1.50. It's been a strong barrier and we've had a lot of congestion so I think it's likely that price will rise fast if we do break above ...

On my chart (see below) the 50% fib is at 1.0185 and resistance is at 1.0217. I think a move to 1.0250 would mean a breach of these barriers.

USD/CHF, EUR/USD — The setups on USD/CHF and EUR/USD are mirroring eachother exactly except the 50% fib and resistance (support for EUR/USD) lines are closer together on the USD/CHF (1.0200). Price hasn't really made a u-turn on the USD/CHF ...
