At today’s meeting, which was held in Riga, the Governing Council of the ECB undertook a careful review of the progress towards a sustained adjustment in the path of inflation, also taking into account the latest Eurosystem staff macroeconomic projections, measures of price and wage pressures, and uncertainties surrounding the inflation outlook. ECB says it will reduce its massive bond-buying program from September, dependent on data
The European Central Bank (ECB) kept interest rates unchanged Thursday, but traders will closely monitor upcoming remarks from President Mario Draghi for hints on the potential end of the bank's massive stimulus program. Market participants have described this month's meeting as being "live," following remarks by the central bank's chief economist that the ECB would start preparing to end its stimulus. ECB's Peter Praet said last week the bank would be discussing how to unwind its asset purchase program — which was implemented in 2015 to revamp the euro economy in the wake of the 2011 sovereign debt crisis. ...
