So USDJPY and all other JPY pairs are dropping but the dollar index is steady and majors are mostly still consolidated. It seems that this banking "situation" is under control. Fundamentals and technicals are no longer in alignment. This price action is tricky to say the least in determining a true trend direction. This is either pre positioning into FOMC or market maker trickery

Nothing happened but it doesnt just move in a straight line. Regional banks cannot keep tanking 50% day until worthless. Even in the roughest times you get counter moves.

ECB is never going to say, "You know what? Maybe the banks aren't resilient", so one can take that statement with a huge bucket of salt. I doubt they have been able to examine all the cashflows and asset valuations of all the banks in the last 24-48 hrs, so it remains to be seen yet, how much will creep out of the woodwork. Especially if the increased rates creates more problems with the depreciative valuations of those bonds/assets, much as happened across the pond. Any journalist with determination should really grill Lagarde in the conference on how much examination they have truly done in the last 48 hrs into the asset valuations, liquidity and interlinks.
