When investors get nervous, they buy government bonds. Governments (usually) pay back their debts. Those purchases push prices higher. And when bond prices rise, the yields — or the fixed interest rates investors collect on their bond investments — fall. So, falling yields are to the economy what barometric pressure is to the weather: When they drop it’s often a sign that some kind of storm is coming.

Breaking down of risk on, risk off.

The 2008 financial crisis was considered a risk-off year, when investors run for shelter to bonds or gold, the environment is said to be risk-off, such as U.S. Treasury bonds.

If CPI rises, this will cause inflation to balloon. The Feds will have to step in and raise interest rates. When that happens, businesses suffer because they have to pay more to service the loans. Banks will have to follow suit to avoid low margins. Things will get very expensive. Stocks will fall as earnings and margins get affected.

VIX index and its common sense.
When VIX hit a record low at around 10. New highs can be seen in the equities market.
It's a sentiment indicator representing fear or greed. Extreme ends are always the first sign of tops or bottoms.

A market top unfolds when monetary policy is being tighten and oil price increases. But the recent QE implementation doesn't seem to make this substantial. So take it with a pinch of salt.

When there is an increase surge in mutual funds and ETF.

What will happen when bond market rises?
When bond prices rise, bond yields fall and vice-versa.
A rising yield is dollar bullish. A falling yield is dollar bearish.
Increased demand for “less-risky instruments” such as U.S. bonds and the safe-haven U.S. dollar pushes their prices higher.

This is known as risk off.
