The easy answer is found in post 718
#718 At one time I used the 5ema in a different way. Back then if a candle closed across the 5ema it was the set up candle. I would enter the trade at the beginning of the next candle if it was the same color.... and that still works... this is more conservative... I am more aggressive now and noticed I was giving up some pips doing it that way so I changed to using the TDI candle #1 or 2 for entries. I left it on my chart because I like to see how PA interacts with the 5ema line during the trade. Gives me a better feel for what's going on... that's mainly the reason...

Remove 5EMA from chart, you don't need it.

Reason: Do you trade by how you "like to see" or "better feel for what's going on"?

That was my confusion. There's another strategy that uses a 5-period EMA or SMA, but with daily candles.
That's why, after all these years away, I mistakenly mixed up the two strategies, and I was wondering why the EMA was so rarely mentioned. Thanks for pointing me to the post where eelfranz discussed it. Anyway, I think I'll continue using it to see the angle it forms with the candle.

when the OP started in 2005,
there was no Moving Averages,
then he added the 5SMMA High-Low, Shift+1
then he removed that and use just one 5SMA,Typical Price, Shift+2
then he took the 5EMA,Typical Price, Shift+2 from another system/method recommended by a FF member.


what remains the same over the many years is the Price Action on charts.

Hi @emmanuel7788, i am reading all files. Especially Big E post and replies, also i found two pdf, Xman recommended to read those post in his thread.
I need help regarding @Phx62 charts as he is not active now, i have seen almost 80℅ dis trade on sessions opening times as OP given, most importantly his trade only based on Tdi cross begging of the session.
Is it so for my correct understanding?

Look at my TMS_V19 for XAU

M5 alert settings,

- all the basics in post #261

- post #647 I use the Daily Trend 2/8.

I am sure there will not be any setups alerts today with Trend 2/8 sideways .
