No I don't believe it because I rarely use it.

But c'mon why would broker want their traders/clients to lose? They make money from the fee of each transaction, just like when you open your own money exchange shop.

Stop hunting is not as obvious as it was in the old days but it does exist.
Liquidity providers and/or Brokers who maintain dealing desks could easily collaborate with each other and push price towards certain levels.

Bank holiday days are ideal for such activities because liquidity is low,

POSSIBLE SCENARIO
If I was one of the larger brokers and had available funds and a dealing desk, it would not be hard for me to estimate
how many million $ I will need to spend to move market price to certain levels and what my net $ benefit would be from the stop losses.
If the numbers work I can place trades against my clients by myself.

But if the numbers are not favorable, I can call my friends at my liquidity provider or at another broker and we can coordinate our trades,
This way I won't need to spend as much of my money to hit my target and we both win

Other times, when I see that some institutional trades are pushing price towards levels of interest.
I will join in the party and together we will get deep into the resistance/support level
At the same time I will increase spreads and take out those juicy SL's

If they kept our trades in-house, they would not want us to win, and I suspect that most brokers still do this.

Even if they tell me that they don't have A and B books, I don't believe them.
Certain trader trades would pass straight through but the majority will be kept in house.
The financial benefit from this activity is too great to ignore.

It's so funny that many traders don't trust fully their broker. LOL
I think every trader should have their own brokerage company instead.

Guys, if you think the brokers are interested in stealing your microlots, then it is better to reorganize your thinking. What the market is interested in is LIQUIDITY! Not just stop losses, but stop orders and limit orders as well, which tend to congregate at specific places.

For example if you have a swing high in a down trend, above there are going to be stops of those traders, who are short the market. Also there are going to be sell limit orders from those traders, who expect price to return there so they can sell at a good price. And also there will be buy stops from traders, who speculate a breakout.

If you are a professional, who has to sell a 20 000 lot order or whatever, if you just drop it on the market, it will make the price plummet, you get a really bad fill, and you would struggle to make a profit.

So if it is profitable for them to do so and if the market gives them the opportunity, they mark up the price to this stack of orders, and they dump their position into it, so they get a much better fill.

Nobody gives a crap about individual positions, especially not retail, what is important where the liquidity is.
Price and volume reveals everything. The market moves on supply and demand.

It would be funny if it was all in our imagination

They also cheat in all ways possible.
For example, by increasing spread, by slipping our entries/exits etc.

I have also compared swap charges between a number of brokers and there are significant differences between them too.
I questioned 1 particular broker about the swap on AUDCAD which should have been +ve on buys and they said that the swap is decided by their liquidity provider.
but a few days later I saw that they quietly fixed it.

Traders are very knowledgeable these days so I'm surprised that some brokers also try and cheat on the swap.
What are they going to do when one day they get audited by the authorities?
Because I will have no problem dobbing them in .

Of Course they would not be targeting individual microlots,
I haven't read every post here but I don't believe anyone said that his individual position was targeted

There is no doubt about that,
I only posted my thoughts on brokers and what some of them could be doing.

Brokers in general have a bad reputation and traders don't trust them but this isn't because traders lose.
It is more due to the general forex trading/forex education industry which doesn't exist in order to help people out.
It exists because they want to take people's money.
Simple stuff really.

Now a few of us will eventually become profitable and then they will see that some brokers don't want us.
I wonder why that is.....

My broker operates a no-stop hunting policy, he hunts my take profits instead. It's liquidity, too!

No seriously, when we win it is because we're the greatest trader at all and when we lose it is the broker. Classic "not my fault, I'm not to blame" thinking and it just as wrong as it usually is. Additionally people tend to forget that the broker is just a broker, a middle man basically. Like Mingary said, orders are there to be filled and when we place our "oh shit, I need to get out" order where other people want to get in the outcome is to be expected. BUT it is not the broker, it is other market participants.
