Once again IG makes a difficult situation much worse:

Every broker needs to protect itself, even when they are hypocritical enough to say they are doing to protect us traders...but to increase the margin 8 times is lethal for traders with long term positions!!!

STAY AWAY FROM IG !!!!!, sooner or later their policies will bankrupt your account!!!
IG also steal your money by horrible slippage, which many people tend to ignore.

stop crying and learn how to trade. never ever had any issues with them all the years.

Crying? really? I am a Harvard graduate and have done quite well, not just in forex market.

I encourage every traders to compare each brokers with this method: execute exact same EA with different brokers under similar data center speed. Then you will realize how those creepy brokers （such as IG） steals your money.

It is safe to assume a person who has no clue about latency issue will cry a lot in trading :-)

I browse through this guy's posts. This guy actually focuses on day trade and scalping. HaHaHaHa, and he think IG's horrible slippage is never an issue?! Really? HaHaHa

....and not only slippage but also a TON of requotes!!! As in hundreds per day....it's really sad they claim to be one of the biggest brokers....terrible execution but it's their internal policy with these CRAZY MARGIN SURGES that really kill traders....

Look for another broker, IG is not trader friendly....

Yes, I have recorded several brokers for many years. Statistically speaking, Tickmill and Pepperstone are much better (within retail forex market category) .

I called them about this crazy margin hike, and they said that if I had "guaranteed stops", they would not apply the margin hike to those trades...with the one little BUT.....it doesn't apply to ANY MT4 trades......useless, completely useless....
Markets are rigged and brokers software are designed to take your money. let there be no doubt.

NB. The "slippage" I mentioned is actually latency and price manipulations, which can not be prevented with the slippage parameter in ordersend function.

IG is a dealing desk broker through MT4 and ProRealTime, unless you upgrade your account to dma and use their simple webpage to trade on,
not avalible on Mt4 or PRT what a joke
hardly a broker to chose if you are serious about technical analysis and trading, it's better you find a ECN broker, with a "real" trading platform.
Mt4 not recommended. it is awful for TA.
