Engulfing outside bar indicator

Would one of our talented programmers happen to have created, or know where i can get an 'engulfing outside bar indicator'??

I'm after an indicator that ignores 'HH and LL wicks' but takes the 'open and close' of the candle to be greater 'engulfing' then the previous.
An alarm to sound 'once' when engulf happens
and the ability to set the direction of the engulfing outside bar (down : red candle engulfs green; Up : green engulf red).

i have this indicator (found on FF).which seems to work fine, however i'd like it to only use the body of the candles for engulf and not the high and lows. i've tried playing about with it but just made it worse. Thanks for any help.

### i just discovered that this indicator does what i want in regards that it is the body that engulfs. some of the candles haven't worked because the start of the engulfing candle has ticked down a bit on candle opening mmmm. not to worry. can anyone alter this for 'red engulfing candle only' and 'green engulfing candle only'?? to use for one direction trading. many thanks

this is the only mq4 i have, fxdaytrader put an alarm on it but it has a fault in that the alarm keeps going. he fixed it (below) but only provided the ex4.

I have also noticed i was wrong before, the indi does not always signal on body engulf (or if it does it has a set size), i'd like it to signal if the body is equal or more (not interested in highs or low wicks). pic shows missing signals

Looking at the code, what I can gather, the signal for Up:

Close of the second candle greater than the open of the second candle ( Bull Candle)
Also, the close of the 1st candle less than the open of the first candle (Bear Candle)
and the close of the second candle greater than the open of the first candle
and the open of the second candle less than or equal to the close of the first.


The signal for Down:

Close of the second candle less than the open of the second candle ( Bear Candle)
Also, the close of the 1st candle greater than the open of the first candle (Bull Candle)
and the close of the second candle less than the open of the first candle
and the open of the second candle greater than or equal to the close of the first.

There is no problem with the criteria as it does not look at highs or lows of candles.

What you could possibly do is have an input to select either the bullish or bearish signal as required.
I am not that good at coding so I will pass on that atm.

P.S. The missing candles that you mention will depend on your broker, I have the first 2 showing correctly the third one is missing like yours.

works well on 5min TF

SL is the low/high of the Bullish/bearish bar
TP is 1:1 for first target

Aggressive traders may try to milk it, by shifting SL to B/E when 1st target is hit and ride the wave trend if possible.

Best used on ECN accounts.

No arrows on those because they aren't engulfing the previous bars. Their openings are actually below the prior closes, not above or equal.

This is a great indicator especially if you take trades after 1PM EST and or wait for the news to pass. Determine the daily trend and then take engulfing bars in that direction.

Engulfing has always been the best candle stick formation provided you use proper MM and R/R ratio. i sometimes combined it with fractals a base for swing trades and placing my stoploss.
