{quote} 1. D trend is up, therefore you need confirmation or a W level 2. There is a W level there but no W trend downward, so confirmation needed 3. The approach is bad, lots of stair stepping Typically if you see an approach like that it means you're about to get run over Btw, hi Akt!

This is my first chart in this thread. Please bear with me as I learn and let me know if i made any mistakes. I made a demo trade on gold today with awesome result ...Thanks AKT for your guidance. Here goes. I have a question and hope someone can give inputs whether trade can/should be taken after price breaks the red trendline after bouncing 3 times at the M30 DZ. See red box within chart. The trade i made today ... {image}

EDIT: To go CT you need your middle time frame to have broken the TL and an opposing zone removed on your entry time frame.

I interpreted the gold chart this way: Price had hit an H4 SZ, therefore the safest thing to do would be to wait for price to retrace to a D DZ. You can see price did react at the H4 DZ on the way down but it wasn't the trade to take.

^ That is a prime example of my question Akt. That D DZ is within an unconfirmed W DZ, therefore according to the rules it can't be taken. But in my experience it cancels out a LOT of trades!

I like the timeframe preview at the bottom of your charts. What indicator is that?

{quote} Are your trading time frames H4, H1, and M30? The reason I ask is typically if you are looking for a confirmation trade you only go down one timeframe, the lower you go the less "confirmation" there is. H4, H1, M30 would be a weird combo so my guess is you're looking too low. Either way though you had M30 SZ directly overhead which decreased your odds. M30 zone vs. M30 zone, gotta go with the HTF trend in that case. I interpreted the gold chart this way: Price had hit an H4 SZ, therefore the safest thing to do would be to wait for price...

Akt, I have a question for you (apologies if it's been discussed. I haven't read the whole thread) Alfonso has a rule that says if you have an unconfirmed zone on a certain TF, all lower TF zones within that area are not tradeable. Do you follow that rule? I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on it.

Hello rudy5
Apologies for the slight delay in responding. Been tight with time for a couple of days

I am not sure what an "unconfirmed zone" is but if you mean do i take drill down zones inside a higher time frame if i wouldn't trade the HTF zone itself then my answer would have to be no.

Imagine you were trading the weekly chart (i am sure you will soon have an account size that will allow that, if you don't already), if you would not take the weekly zone itself then the smaller timeframe zones inside there are lower probability

As you know there is no such thing as "never" or "always" in trading but it is a rule of thumb i use

best wishes

Hello Leeta
Good to meet you
Welcome to T.I.O.F

No, the trade would be lower probability just because of the number of times at that level, plus the rally didn't make a HH the last time it rallied from the DZ

Hello Rudy

I see what you mean.
However, please allow me to ask you something about that "unconfirmed" weekly zone.
Why did price rally up from that basing area?

The SAD methodology dictates that the only thing that can cause such a rally up is an imbalance between buy orders and sell orders at that price level.

Now, if there is an imbalance there, why would i not trade it, well the only reason i see is maybe because the rally is not far enough away from the zone in which case, the adaptation is to only trade with confirmation.

i hope that helps

best wishes
