Now that is the kind of thinking you have to ditch. What you are actually seeking is a consistent win-rate that wins more pips than your losers. So if you got out when you felt comfortable/rewarded/safe, or whatever; then that is your decision.

If you wanted more then do a partial close and set a stop against the rest ... you now taking a different risk and that needs another measure of consideration. Don't knock yourself. You cannot win them all and trying to do so just results in an empty account.

I don't like partial closes, because that changes the whole R:R. Sometimes I move the stop and see if it can reach the next level - I do that when I think there's a lot of momentum there; obviously I misread this one!

Got ya now. I put mine at Scott's place was on the hunt for longs on the way down at around 38 I think but couldn't get anything to fly. I gave up on it as thought it might drop into the 30-37 range. Got couple levels above I would have a go at if it is to continue down, first being 5 pips or so either side of 40 then above that 4160 ish.

Started using forex.com. Not nearly as user friendly for scalping. Hit the chart "help" button several times -- nothing happened -- sure they will be skunked for couple weeks. Did one full strength 8 pipper by downloading FXCM practice account and overlaying that chart over forex platform. J's giving me some pointers on Oneida. Plan to download it later this week when I get time. Busy week.

I understand mate I really liked Tradestation it was one of the better aspects of FXCM and for ages kept an account alive just to chart off. It is great platform. A hybrid of J/Forex,C Trader and Tradestation would be the dogs doodahs !

Getting a little concerned, Stu. Really seems, at this point, that American traders only have 2 choices, this and Oanda. Hope they get busy and bust up dodd-frank.

Jim you had a look at Tallinex ? I think they take US clients. Just keep account lean in case they do a runner.

I fully agree with lean accounts! A little confession: I actually place all my trades on a good demo and copy to as many (all small) real accounts as I want. That way, I don't have the demo/real trading problem because I just forget about the real accounts. I copy at market so I don't get missed orders because of slippage or funny business by brokers. OK I might miss a few pips on the live, but because I shoot for so many, it's pretty irrelevant. Believe me the brokers really do play dirty; it only becomes evident when you are watching them side by side in real time and I am not talking about bucketshops either.

Lots have been said about why people succeed on demo but not on live and just about everybody puts it down to psychology. That is also what brokers would want you to believe. I think it's far simpler than that; it's the games the brokers play especially around key levels. You are guaranteed to lose over time. I've seen it for myself.

Thanks for the tip. Went to their web site and a big pop up informed me they didn't take US clients and had no facility in place to process them. So much for our freedoms. Nother reason Trump was elected. BTW He gave possibly the best speech last night I've seen one of our presidents give.

Got couple fair scalps in today. Unfortunately I can't post as I haven't figured out how to take a picture of it. Charts very crude compared to FXCM and Tradersway.
