{quote} I'll agree with Fedricks on this one. What he says is bang on. Why go with 1 broker when you can spread it among several....? I have not personally traded with Dukascopy given they don't offer a true MT4 option (they offer a bridge....which I just don't like), but from all my sources I hear they are legit. Forex.com...they have stopped me out of so many winning trades (under the pretext of thin liquidity) I would just never go back to them... If the only thing you are looking for is an honest broker, LMAX is the top of the line. It doesn't...

seems ForexDao is from Canada, did UK firms accept CA clients? I do not know.

{quote} Hi johnnycash, where would you recommend trading futures?
Ignored
with futures you will be trading minimum 100k contracts sometimes, so there is not a lot of flexibility in lot size.
the margin is also quite high with futures.

I trade cfd`s on futures with Ikon Finance: for Nasdaq100 I pay $5 per full contract (over 100k), no swap costs, lot size can be down to 0.01 if needed, no platform or any other costs and good spread 0.25 to 0.50 point, margin $2k.
they also have cfd`s on futures on all the USD pairs like AUD/USD etc. with no swap costs.

If you can only use US brokers, then split it 50:50
A good Futures broker and Spot FX with Interactive Brokers.

If you find a way to open an account elsewhere, add LMAX (or based), Dukascopy (or based) and Varianse.

With weaker regulation you can add and try a bit FXPig, JFDBrokers, GlobalPrime and Tradeview.

I`ve traded with Interactive Brokers as well as LMAX
Interactive Brokers - cheap brokerage - margin: often charges more than the exchange - swap on spot forex very expensive
LMAX: doesn`t have cfd`s on futures but cash cfd`s. the swap they charge on something like Nasdaq100 cfd`s is quite expensive if you hold overnight.

there are better brokers out there with reasonable brokerage, low margins, no swap, flexible position sizing and reasonable to low spread.

What is their minimum deposit? Do they offer micro accounts or not interested in low-cash clients?

LMAX used to have a minimum entry of 10,000 EUR, but I think they now allow you to start with 1,000 via an IB. They are not too strict on this, so you should have no problem to start with 1k if you call them up.

I've only named the brokers whom i would deal with. For futures and stocks, there are much better brokers than IB.

You trade with Ikon Finance. Good for you.

But I would never touch them. I rate them as sh*t.

But whatever.

Velocity Trade, Baxter FX, AxiPrime, Sucden Financial, Gain GTX, Price Markets, Lmax, Fixi, ...

With 100K i would go for a more professional brokers then Oanda.
My pick from the list above would be Velocity Tradex,Baxter FX or AxiPrime depending on your requirements.

I think Interactive Brokers is a good broker for trading futures and stock; only prefer the lower margins I can get from other brokers.
your money is quite safe too: you have the guarantee program and on top of that they have added insurance as well.
too lazy to look up the figures.

Ikon Finance is sh*t according to you and you`re probably referring to their forex trading???
I don't trade spot forex: too expensive if holding overnight.
I only trade cfd`s on futures with them and have not encountered any problems.
on top of that my money is safe up to 50k GBP and that is top priority for me.
I also have an account with ActivTrades - trading only cfd`s on futures - money guaranteed up to 50k GBP as well plus they have added insurance up to 500k.

so if I have 100k to throw around, I would go for the British brokers for their government guarantee.

You guys are recommending a bunch of brokers for nothing. He's from Canada so he's limited only to either oanda or forex.com. Both have been around forever so they're reliable. I'm with forex.com myself. FXChoice is an offshore broker that accepts NA clients but I wouldn't deposit 100k with them since they're relatively new.

There are plenty of other options if you look further than the average retail broker. Which i would avoid with 100K anyway.
