Even with some missed trades we would had ended up close both would be +30 for sure

Well nothing to report today got 2 trades both +1 stayed in a 40 tick range it blasted out late but no pullback no trend no pullback no trade may come back at 1pm

Thank God it's Friday...

After 3 days of experimentation, I'm glad the weekend has arrived !

Because of my hybrid approach, posting my usual chart would be confusing, but I had what I would describe as a brutal session, not filling my first +20 trade and later 5, yes 5, losers in a row, saving my skin with a 3.7R closing trade (that strong push up to the 5162.25 High a few minutes back, leaving a very small net profit on the session (by "session" I mean the same 55 minute opening session as H).

+1 +13 -9 -2 -9 -8 -9 +34 (of course with hindsight, I coudda woudda shoudda filtered some of the losers)

Btw, whilst posting - & I understand this is a personal matter for each trader - I really appreciate people posting their charts showing their trade markers : it's really helpful to see exact entries and exits. I guess people don't do it because of embarrassment, but the one thing you can be sure of is that everyone has made mistakes at least as bad (and in my case almost certainly far worse & far more frequently) as you have.

1st day trading - six +1 one break even should've held the last trade.

Without making mistakes, we will never learn! The psychological issues surrounding trading are by far the most difficult to overcome. Despair, followed by Euphoria, rinse, repeat, ill-discipline and over-trading leading to being too conservative and frigid, instead of confident, fluid and disciplined... etc etc

Well, i know you know what i mean!

Looking at those results, i can see an obvious positive - that the losers are relatively small. Even BE days with two winners cancelling out 5 losers is a great basis to work on. If it were five big losses and two small winners......

I doubt any trader has reached success without having to battle his/her way through the minefield to get there, it's whether you still have any limbs left by that time?!

Well, i guess my point was, mistakes are good...

I find mostly, when i lose, it is because i am trying to make the market fit my thoughts, as opposed to the other way around (reality)!

Here's my effort for today. Two losses, and a plus 1 escape. I think I just kept finding trends that weren't actually there. I'm finding everyone's charts really useful, especially the daily video, so I hope somebody finds this useful too.

When price made that 40 tick move down and then stayed in that range you can be hypnotized into to thinking there's a trend. If it waves nicely thats one thing this wasn't the case we all get trapped at times

Very good point. Sometimes I can get into this hypnotized mode and try to look for trends with a microscope. Have to keep this post in mind.

BTW your vid proved also that it's possible to trade this style outside of the 1h box after the open. Sometimes that first hour feels too fast for me.

Hi TD - I have just finished a 3 month summary of candles and range for each of the 1st 2 hours of open ( 9.30 - 10.30 and 10.30 to 11.30 ). I will put it in a download format for anyone interested but like you, I am looking for the other times of the day that I could find enough liquidity and momentum . My next project is to summarise the USA after lunch to see how it compares with the open.

Q - for you and Harold ?? What time do these big boys generally get back into trading mode after lunch ? I also thought I might summarise the last hour before close. Any opinions or ideas.

Lunch usually done at 1pm. The first hour 95% of time is good for 30 + days like yesterday happen around Wednesday and nf days

This is a comparison between the NQ Nasdaq and YM Dow. It confirms what Harold has found and I guess it is the basis for his decision to move from the Dow to the Nasdaq.
The spreadsheet attachment details daily info and the picture summary is the overall view .
The time period for this exercise is the 1st 2 hours of USA Open at 9.30am.
