I have been following this thread for a long way! Simple and Amazing Trend Trading system!
Lots of great contributors modifying the system using their own strategies so that they can see the trend from their lenses!
People uses different MAs to know the trend, or use MACDs! But I would love to know,
1) how each one here identifies a trend and more importantly
2) how to know when the trend is consolidating (flat) so not to trade and
3) when it is reversing!
If all the people following this thread can give their suggestions, that will be fantastic

I used EMA 21 & 8 and trade accordingly except during important Support and Resistance level, even if the EMAs favors a trade. Now I am also trying to merge EMAs and MACD in my system!

You are asking the million dollar questions. If there was a way to reliably identify a trend, to know exactly when not to trade (or switch to range-trading strategies) and most importantly, to know when the trade the reversal, we would not be hanging around FF, rather lay on the sand on our private island
A good rule of thumb is to use simple HH / HL structure, although it raises the question which Hs and Ls should be taken into consideration. Plus, it can get really confusing in a range-bound market.
