I think that in this case SL is Trader mind, account or a big SL. It`s good or bad? No, everything depends on your experience, system, luck etc.. Everything what you have to be conscious of is risk like sudden moves and black swan events. The longer you are trading the possibility of unexpected situation rises but meantime you can earn a lot of money.
I`m limiting my Risk & trying maximize my profits.
Hi 90strader, congratulations for your results. ^_^ May I ask what let you prefer GOLD rather than EUR/USD ?

Yes, that was quite sad when i found my account become $0 on a Monday morning haha
That is why i try not to carry any trade over weekend now (not 100% as i am not willing to close a losing trade)
Luckily that i didn't suffer any lost that time as i had withdrew some profit
But i learnt a lot from that, and made me think a lot about how to manage the risk too

Actually my preference is
GOLD or USDJPY --> GBPUSD --> EURUSD
i don't prefer EURUSD is simply because the Volatility is relatively low than the other three
i don't prefer GBPUSD recently is because there are too many uncertainty which can lead to sudden sharp changes on price
i prefer GOLD or USDJPY is because it may have slightly related to the big picture on global stock market as well
i.e. if i am very confident the stock market will drop, i will buy GOLD / buy YEN

Yes, normally i don't use SL, unless i leave my trade overnight (but i actually try to prevent overnight trade)
Or in case i use large leverage, i will use SL especially when i try to scalp.

but i must say that i only trade on this account, and i know you may be very curious on how i made 30+ consecutive wins
if you look closely, you may find that 38 trade, i only sell GOLD for 7 times
meanwhile GOLD move from $1128 to $1214.
i must say that i am quite lucky as i follow the whole uptrend, and i was quite confident at that time so i didn't SL even i suffer 20% drawdown
and to be honest i don't think consecutive wins is a good thing to me
at that time i refuse to SL and i always try to seal the profit too early
that was a relief when i lost on 39th trade

OK no sl. It's impossible to judge a no sl performance because one can blow the account overnight.

Pretty much the same applies when risking more than 2-5%/trade, don't get me wrong.

From 70K to 54K. That was a good ride. However, I notice few things;
- You kept faith in your trade and you even added to losing position.
- After that you lost faith in your trade and started in the reverse direction.
- And as tragic as it sounds, the market again reversed on you.
- More often than not, once lose one trade, will lose more than 1 trade often many.

This is familiar. Very familiar.

Collectively, can we come to a solution on this psychology? I have at least developed some discipline and I don't add to losing position any more. I think that has helped me a lot. So, that is a sure thing I would recommend to you.

I am yet to conquer going in the reverse direction. Because more often than not, the market reverses in such situations.

One solution could be once I lose one trade, I exit the market for the day. Very hard to implement than to say.

Mister 90's is a good trader, but as usual, there is no good exit plan out there. Because of the lack of a reliable exit plan, the lack of discipline is to be blaimed at?!? Using a stop loss is like driving a car without any brakes. Just crash the car and go away... Great!

I was wondering, when you drive a car, how the hell do you take the road curves? And how trading is any different than driving a car on a curvy road?

I produced some really bad trades last night, I will try to explain in details after finish my work today (probably I will write a long essay on what I have done last night)

I am not going to hold any positions in daytime as I have a stupid meeting to attend today which I cannot contol my trades

Just came across your thread. It looks like your past returns was because of luck. Your current trades are all negative. At this rate forget HK apartment you are going to be homeless.

This clearly a downtrend.. we have two, I mean TWO breakouts (trendline and support)... holding longs would be crazy IMO.

Speak to me about curves, HY. Forget about breakouts/support/resistance/ext. popular delusions. These are nothing but entirely useless. They are useful as any of the public indicators can be. How do you take the curves, HY?
