Welcome aboard, thedrrew. Obviously bear in mind that this time of year is hardly optimum conditions for any kind of trading. Having said that, well done on your first trade. I would try and change your mind-set slightly...The way you say you were ''stopped out at BE+1'', makes it sound like a loss. Try and turn that around and remember that you ''took profit at BE+1''.

I know it sounds like a small thing but every little negative thought - ''oh I could have had six pips...only got one...bummer...'' festers away. Negativity breeds negativity. A positive mindset breeds success.

TooSlow / lemercenaire - Thanks for the feedback. I just deleted all(indis and templates) I had accumulated except what I need for this strategy, the hardest will be to delete what I have in my head now ! Reading the thread from the beginning as been great and I am enjoying the positive vibe here.

Tomorrow I'll be trading again attempting my second UJ trade and I'll probably pause until the new year before continuing the challenge. Hoping to get to 10 trade flawlessly.

You sound like you are well on the way. Only think about what you have in front of you at that moment - you may make 10-in-a-row flawlessly...you may not. If you don't will you give up? I don't get that vibe from you. So why worry about it at all? Execute, execute, execute - and HOLO will see you through. This method works. Just trust it. Good luck!

Not really. Even if you had gone in on one of the early ones, it looks like you wouldn't have been stopped out, so other than a slightly nervy ride, you would have ended up where you did anyway...
Again, though - as I have just said to thedrrew above, try and start thinking of it as more, ''I bagged +15 pips'' and not that you ''got stopped out...'' I don't know if you have ever seen ''Kelly's Heroes'' but just start channelling Donald Sutherland's character, Oddball, - ''Positive vibes, man...positive vibes!''.

Hi TooSlow.
I have a day job and family, so I dont have time for trading...
But I follow this thread for about 1 or 2 months I think.
For me, this method is amazing. Probably best method here on forum, and for sure simpliest.
But I cant understand how it can be profitable, if we have for example 3 trades with 5 pips profit, and next trade is loss with 20 pips, so our profit is -5 pips. This is only thing (bad risk reward) that keep me not believing in this method. I am not here to hate, beacuse this is my favourite thread here on forum.

But, this is something that I dont understand. How HOLO can be profitable?

Hi. This is an issue and is an ongoing theme among those of us who trade HOLO. Many of us have moved onto our own variants of taking-profit / trailing the trades as we gained experience with the method. At its core, this is why we look to lock in BE+1 as soon as possible. I myself will never have a sl of -20 pips either. I think the most I have ever had was -17 and that was way at the beginning and now I never get anywhere near that. Again, this is a personal development.

The key to HOLO is its strike-rate, which keeps you ticking over by bagging those +1 and +5 trades and then will, usually every other day or so, supply you with a big ''runner''.

For sure, this version of HOLO will not suit you as you have a day job, unless you are prepared / able to trade late in the eve into the Asian session, however if you have read all the posts, you will know that I came here via a world which used another variant of HOLO which used the (sometimes very) long time-frames. It's not exactly the same method but the dna is the same. Perhaps that is something you could investigate?

Trapforex I have been learning HOLO as well as 1-2-3. I bounce back and forth between the two. Maybe a bad idea in itself but one is a subset so you see identical principles in play with slight variation approach. I have done fairly well on 1-2-3 as I focus more on avoiding trains, and there are a lot. There I take 80% of my trade off at +5 and just let it run. I have seen really eye popping runs with this approach and have had a few go to +100 and more.

On HOLO I plan to first finish reading the entire thread which so far has taken me a long time, I still am only to August. I plan to use the profit taking strategy as outlined when I eventually take the challenge and of course stick to one pair. Probably sometime next year I suspect, LOL. I have been posting trades I have taken here and generally I have been exiting at +5. I have found that when I move my stop to +1 or +5 it often gets taken out. So I do understand your concerns. +1, +5, +1, +5, -15, +1, +5, -17. This is somewhat of a time intensive method so it may not be for you in respect to juggling a job and family. You may need to look to a higher time frame strategy. There looks to be many successful traders here so it is best to study what they are doing but more importantly find the way that works for you, it is there in some form.

Trapforex. I'd echo what Hal has said. I too move between HOLO and 1-2-3 seamlessly. 1-2-3 trades tend to top-and-tail the day on many pairs. One way to work things is that if you are looking at a HOLO set up and you are hit with an H1 breakout candle (if you are in a trade you will doubtless stop out) simply switch to 1-2-3 mode and all of a sudden you can turn a small negative into a big positive.

Also 1-2-3 set ups appear on any time-frame and are traded in exactly the same way no matter which, without any adjustment to the process.

I found these in like, 2 seconds. I am sure there are many even better examples. H4 and Daily are both strong contenders. Weekly may be a little too hefty. Point is made though, I hope.

Hello trapforex.
Many forex traders have a day job and family.
No excuse.
A strategy is not profitable.
A trader is profitable.
Whether a human or robot.
What makes you bring up the subject of risk/reward?
Have I ever mentioned risk/reward?
Did you "empty your cup" completely?
I rarely post my personal results.
It can appear to be braggadocious when a thread author does that.
It is preferable to have others show their results.
That speaks more to the method than to the author of the thread.
