{quote} Hi HeyYou, backtests are a double-edged sword. It is so easy to do datamining and optimize a system beyond belief. While it may seem realistic, it is vital to look that you developed a system without falling into the trap of datamining. As you probably have noticed you can pull out 100s of systems that look amazing in a backtest and then suddenly something happens - real time performance lags dramatically or even turns negative - that is the result of datamining. As I don't know you, maybe you already know of those pitfalls, and have taken...

{quote} Well 5%/month is realistic according to my backtests. It is useful to estimate the ROI yearly.... so let's say 80-100%/year is realistic by risking 3%/trade. 20-25%/year is realistic by risking 1%/trade. It depends if you are willing to deal with a 30 and even 40% DD. I'm sure those large funds have much lower DD's.

Ya absolutely even 30% yearly is nice.

Forex Trading has now become an international Business and it is done, almost in the each and every corner of the world. You need to learn a lot though to become successful in it.

It has always been international - that is the whole point of a currency exchange.

You're taking on far too much risk for your account size.

After nine years trading, you should know this.

{quote} I've read your acid negativistic comment and I've decided to tell you my story. I entered this world of investment many years ago, maybe 8 or 9. And it's a tough environment with ups and down, even it can have great rewards in terms of money and satisfaction it's heavier to nearly impossible for the most of the "traders" - I'm sorry to say this, even if it sounds arrogant, but it's not for everyone. To cut to the chase, I tell that this year I've made a big jump and I've assumed a great responsibility: it became for me, unexpectable dream/result....

Yes, I know but I do only this for my only income so...with the risk comes to the rewards, for me...If I had at least 3k in account I wouldn't do that, until I reach on that level I have to. Cheers!

With risk also come losses. However, if something works for you and has worked repeatedly, then there’s no need to fix that which isn’t broken.

Forex is a very great business, though it is risky and not easy to learn, it would be very much beneficial if you get a grasp of it.

Honestly I do not see myself anywhere else than FX. Just hope they did not close this someday. I was trading stock market earlier, but leverage and easy. accessible trading in both directions on forex was much more attractive for me.

IMO - it can be profitable long term if you know what you are doing. If you come into this simply to time the markets and feed your ego, you are not going to be in this game soon -- been there, done that. This time, I see this as my savings account that earns interest you won't find anywhere else.

Forex is definitely something that can change your life, but i find myself comfortable by trading part time and having a job on the side, as i notice it makes me more relaxed about it.
I have heard that we should invest only those money that we can afford to lose, but by doing so I am not able to put all my effort into it, and therefore loading the account with money I could have used for something else, I get more stimulation and willing to trade well.

Another things i noticed is that when i try systems or robots on demo after making the necessary settings, there are always some kind of profits compared to the live account_ I couldn't really find an explanation for this until i realised that on demo i am not much concerned about the results in terms of $$,,, meaning i am not as worried as i would be if i was to trade on live account.
Also lately i have been testing systems and Ea's on Demo only initially and once i understood the way they work, i traded directly on live account and forcing myself to have a mental attitude as i was testing them out on a demo account.
I am aware that it takes months of trying the chosen strategy on demo first and then switching to live, but by doing so and trading on demo for months, I wont get the right mental attitude and readiness. (Obviously i speak for myself, and still listen what other traders have to say about this)

For those thinking that forex is a gambling that is definitely a wrong thinking and the people who have shown great results like Hanover, Hp and some other great traders they have proved that it can be done, when we are willing to succeed and use our intelligence.
Seeing the account growing it is certainly a great satisfaction, even if it is a micro account, but seeing that we get results because we followed the rules, we understood the system. we didn't get too greedy, and we looked at what was there in the market rather than looking for what we were hoping for,,, it is a double satisfaction_
I found also that non-trading on certain days or certain hours, is also trading; There are times when i smile if i think I could have taken a trade just because i was bored and i was feeling to do something and i didnt, and the chart proved me right. And obviously there are also times when i bite my fingers not to have bought that basket of currencies which later went up or down so well for a nice profit.
I like forex and I don't want to think about the future and if one day I should become a full time forex trader, I would prefer that it happens without any plans and just because trading has become my passion and my joy, and whatsoever money can be lost or gained that is another matter. Hopefully of course the profit loss will be always positive ;-)
The arriving better than the arrival, the journey has just started

Oh yes, Forex will end one day, unfortunately, when the banksters create the New World Order and its One Currency.
No more Dollar, Euro, Yen, Pound, or whatever, just one single currency.

It is not a conspiracy theory anymore and the idea is gaining momentum...

Forex trading can change our future but it's not for everyone. It has a great profit potential due to which we all get attracted towards it. But almost 90% traders lose money in forex. Just like any other business, lot of efforts and time are required in order to make profits. It can only be profitable if you have realistic expectations and proper trading plan, testing your trading strategy, understanding market philosophy.
