Hello Golden! Your trades look impressive and inspiring, and judging from the charts you post here, you trade trendline breakouts at most, right? It looks pretty easy on your charts, but I suppose there must be some filters for fake breakouts and confirmation signals for true breakouts. I have read Rockypoint`s instructions, outlined by Richt3, but actually Im a noob to trading, and some concepts that are obvious for experienced traders could be not that clear for noobs like me. Could you kindly share your ideas on trendline breakouts or just give me a startkick to further learning?

Great post. I'm also a newbie and have learnt a lot from Rocky and Golden. Have the exact same issue, how to determine which trades to enter and limit fake breakouts.

There is no way to avoid them, the key is to not hold on and make a small loss a bigger one. If I enter a trade that immediatley turns against me say 4-5 bars
I get out minimize my loss. Then look to see if I can catch a reversal. This was also first trade of the day, so I am even more inclined to get out quicker.

My crude trade was unsuccessful. Exited at breakeven. Seems breakout failure.

But I guess we still should consider major trend direction and avoid risky countertrend trades, I mean, breakouts in direction of the main trend are more reliable, right?

Nice quote, heh! Well, I still have question for you, if you dont mind.
Ive dwnloaded your template, and found that your ichi settings are little different from Rocky`s. You use 9/16/34, do you fell more comfortable with it than 9/16/52?

Shantala, a B/E trade is not unsuccessful its good trade management, the more B/E trades you have usually means less lossess.

Ugly Duckling, What you want to consider as far as trends is up to you, my primary focus is previous 4 hours. Reversals against trend you shoot for smaller wins.
I consider longer term trends mainly if they are very strong.
