Hi,
I know this is really lazy on my part but is there an indicator that will auto draw the monthly, weekly or daily open and you can set the length of it?

I found the attached indicator for a daily open and this suits what I want apart from the monthly/weekly aspect.

Apologies if I shouldn't post other people's indicators but it was just so there would be a clearer idea of what I was banging on about!

Please someone help with this, I'am also looking for that kind of indicator for my stradegy.
you can use the mtf ma, set the tf to say monthly
period to 1
and to the open

This is something i just made up it plots 3 Open Levels i have set them to Daily/Weekly/Monthly but you can change that if required, the indicator will only show the current periods and not the history. let me know if you need anything altered.

Hi CJA, this is something I'm looking for.

But why are the lines looking from yesterdays daily open (if daily) and it seems the weekly and monthly opens are all looking at previous week and month not current?

I've attached an image, on the right side is a range gauge for the daily and weekly but for your indi, I see the numbers are different, doing it manually my range gauge seems correct and I'm not sure if it is a setting I should change or something ??

Hope all is well my friend. I was wondering if there is any way you can fix the weekly and monthly open line formulas? It doesn't seem to place correct info for current Weekly/Monthly open lines. I placed it on my current chart and it still shows last week weekly and monthly open lines. Also is possible for you to shift label 10 bars over to the right of current candle? Include the mq4 file if you are able to? Thank you very much cja.
yes its my request too, its showing previous monthly, weekly & daily price instead I too want it to show the current monthly, weekly & daily open price.... any help in this will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

This indicator can be loaded as many time as required on a chart to show any Open timeframe, I have added in a few extra features so that the Open can now be shifted from current to any number of bars back ( a number appears beside the Price label to show the number of bars back ) and it has been coded to run on the new 600 series MT4.

Hi, cja.

1. Your indicator shows open lines wrongly for Gold or WTI, the lines start at the previous candle before actual open.

2. The lines paint ok over std candles, but they don't paint over HA candles, that is why the start can be easily missed.

Both those things can be well seen on the attached picture for Monthly open line.

Could you please fix those issues?

The indicator was coded to work on Forex not metals or anything else however in saying that it should work on most things. The issue with the Monthly is because of the way the trading month December ended and the date the new month started ( check with any previous Months ) , I checked with a Forex pair and yes the line does go back one more candle however the open value is correct also you can find that the lines do not line up perfectly if using line styles other than solid due to the gaps between the dots/dashes. I have added an input code so the lines can be set on top of or below the candles.

It's not about monthly line I described in the example and it's not about end/start of the year, the weekly line on any major forex pair plots wrongly too. Also why the indi's work depends on the instrument it's applied too?

The daily line for Gold also plots on the previous bar to the actual start of the day. The indi in the 1st post doesn't have problem with that.

The conclusion is that your indi doesn't do the job it's supposed to do correctly.

That's your opinion and that's fine personally I don't have an issue with it.

The points values are very different in Forex and metals for example which often makes something coded for Forex not work with Metals.

I download this indicator. But I don't know to crack the password on its indicator. Are there someone can make its password form like CJA setting: free_at_forexfactory? So everyone on this forum can use this indicator. I hope CJA can help my problem.

It's not the opinion, it's the fact.

The indi from 1st post plots daily lines correctly even for Orange Juice, yours don't. What is there to argue about?

It's in mq4 format, why don't you study the code and copy it?
