Not using the sma any more if the price has made a new H/L, then you could have had had this one as well from earlier (assuming you were awake at the right time, of course!).

You could have had a EURCAD in the same situation at around the same time. Was there something happening last night?

I've stayed away from the markets for a few days. There's no doubt of course that there's mountains of volatility ahead of us, and I've chosen to take what I can with the expectation of being in and out of markets for the time being, rather than my usual swing style approach where I normally stay for 1-3 days on average, it's just too risky for me taking that approach at this time.
I've taken some positions, and an example has recently triggered my longs on AU via the m15 chart attached, on a 30% bar retracement.
As usual, I've looked at the higher t/f, h1 in this case, to help with my directional bias and a hidden t/l, but nothing is certain and more care and attention regarding the mm is going to be required than usual, until we can see that the markets have stabilised, which is not the case right now, and imo won't be for a few weeks.

been busy with work then was travelling and also focusing a bit on ADX trading. I really would like to develop my system here more. I figure the first step is to unify the 2 indicators, then come up with other time based filters and perhaps some kind of multi time frame approach for trading lower time frames. But I also feel this thread will totally deviate now into nothing resembling my initial theme of a lower 2nd close and setups people post wont resemble my system at all!

Your ADX method btw may take off, who knows, it could be interesting and I'll keep an eye on that thread, but for now as I said, I am still quietly developing my version of your theme from this thread, and I've achieved mixed results thus far, and although promising, is still not consistent enough for my liking, and that is the area I'm working towards.
Of course in these crazy topsy turvy times we presently have, finding consistency could be impossible, and it's one of the reasons that my own expectations are currently tempered with the reality of unpredictability, and with that in mind, allows balance for me both in successful and failed trades at this time.
Anyhow, enough waffle from me. Here's an EG m30 chart based on things I've discussed previously.
