Hi guys,
I have a question ,is it possible to change an indicator in an EA with another indicator ,by simply changing the name in the source code?
For example if an EA is using Heiken ashi indicator ,can i change the EA to use the heiken ashi smoothed indicator ,by simply adding the word smoothed where heiken ashi is written in the source code?
I would appreciate your advice.

If an indicator uses exactly the same inputs and in the same order and uses the same buffers then yes.
Most likely this will not be the case though.

Thank you Gumari for your reply.
Let's have an example ,replacing the heiken ashi indicator with heiken ashi smoothed .they both function the same way ,so if opened the source code and added smoothed to heiken ashi ,will the EA be working correctly?
And i f the new indicator we replacing is not MT4 standard indicator (as in heiken ashi smoothed) would that be a problem ,supposing we already have comiled it on our platform?

It is likely that the smoothed HA uses the same buffers as the normal HA, but I suspect that the smoothed HA has additional inputs so an iCustom call will not work simply by changing the indicator name, you would need to include the additional inputs in the iCustom call.

Thank you Gumari for your help

If you show relevant lines of code for your EA
AND
also user inputs for the smoothed HA perhaps someone can point the right direction.

J.
If it was easy then I would do it !!

I'm working on an EA with a programmer ,but for my system security I'm thinking of using this way to protect it,by programming it with an indicator similar to my original indicator(both similar name and similar function, and i use the standard inputs of the indicator),so if i do that would it be possible to seek another programmer to help me change it ,without disclosing the whole system?Thank you J

I have already given the programmer the correct indicator ,better than gambling.

Sorry FXnow.. what do you mean for "for my system security". Not sure to understand the security issue: are EA not safe for our trading account security? What's the related risk? Thank you.
