Now we're really getting tangled! Here is a trade I took today. This is when I was late to the party on a TooSlow 1-2-3 trade and instead of entering at open #2, I went in at entry open #3.

I do this often now to great success and although we're talking about the Daily, this is on the H1 just to illustrate the process as it shows it so clearly.

Hi All,

I am fairly new to Fx trading and I like this post the most from all the ones I have read.

Daily charts will suit me best as I dont have the time to monitor charts during the day. I dont have a large balance and found that for beginners the larger TF are more reliable.

I will go through the thread again to see which method is best for the daily charts.

Thanks again HP, LL, lemercenaire, TooSLow and anyone else helping to develop these methods.

Hi Kakmaker. You will find that using the longer TF charts will energise your trading, as you will become so much more relaxed in your decision making. Hopefully we can all work together here to help HP come out the other side with a method that does the job. Stick around, it should be fun!

Agreed H, there seems to be a lot of ideas flying around now, and various different inputs. I stepped back in order to minimise the thread becoming distorted too much, and to allow it time to find it's feet. I guess it becomes a question of what direction you want to take it at the end of the day, I'll continue to monitor anyway to see how things develop.

first post for me ( recently signed up after stalking the forum for awhile) also a Saffa boy !

just wanted to chime in quick and say that so far these methods are very promosing, using a varaition of method 3. need to do some more testing but so far so good.

thanks so much! really helped me out by opeing some doors and new thoughts to my method.

Hi friends it look's interesting i just entered on green arow up afteer yellow candles on same direction. Look's interesting and better for me on 30 min

For the time being, I'll ignore the Reversals stuff of my recent posts and focus on the following system:

Look for both Method 2 and 3 signals. I don't have an indicator that does this, just one for each. One places an arrow on bar 2, one places an arrow on bar 4....

System Name: undecided as yet. perhaps 'The Plopper' or 3-Bar Swing Break'

Trade Setup:

  1. Bar 2 makes a higher high than Bar 1 and Bar 3.
  2. Bar 3 closes below the low of Bar 1 and the low of Bar 2.
  3. Bar 3 closes below an MA filter (at the moment I have an 18 sma)
  4. At close of Bar 3 check the ATR(50). This is the value of the Stoploss.
  5. Entry at open of Bar 4.
  6. Move stop to breakeven when up 50% of Stoploss value.



Take Profit:

 

  1. risk:reward either 1:1, or 1:1.5, or the range from Bar 2 high to Bar 3 close, or no set Take Profit but trailing stop placed above high of each last closed bar.


Timeframe:

 

  1. daily, 4hr, possibly lower


% Risk:

 

  1. Set at own discretion


For those who have followed the development of this thread, I believe the '3bar swing enhanced mm' indicator attached covers the Method 2 setups. It places an arrow on the high or low of Bar 2. The only difference between it and the 'Harryplopper m3 all' indicator is that it doesn't give a signal if Bar 2 is an outside bar.

This system has no backtesting at all. I welcome anyone to test it, see if it holds up or not. At the moment it is only an idea

hi Landline, no problem Right now, the last system is the one I'm most happy with and I think it's the most comprehensive, most promising and combines all the initial ideas/themes I've thrown around

Thanks bud ! And using the 1H as main focus for testing and trying, but also dabbling with the 30M as well. Trying to figure out which one may be best for me.
