One of those days I wish I wasn't too lazy to trade london open, some good trades there, NY not so much. No trades today.

Give the large movements that can occur on range bars during news events, do you try not to trade during these periods (e.g. NFP in a few minutes?)

Hey GW, I have no idea I don't keep track of things like that, but if I had to gues probably over 50% of my trades are out of tight consolidation ranges.

Hey Ivan, News trading used to be very profitable, but brokers now use some huge spreads at announcement time which makes it way more difficult.
I wait for dust to settle before tasking any trades on big news days. I do believe the single biggest loss I ever had was on a news trade 247 ticks on
the yen at 12.50 a tick, I got whipsawed and watched price blow through my stop like a runaway freight train.

Had 1 trade today USD/JPY, i entered about 30mins. after NFP announcement.

and how do you recognize the right side to put the order...? its always as risky as they are profitable, there is always backs and forth s and false break outs..., ?
like you ambush for consolidation ranges in the trend direction or what..?
about this picture... except for the fact that u were asleep at that time :- )... why those areas weren't good entry points?

It looks to me like the AO indicator needs to have crossed from negative to positive (or vice versa) not too many candles ago, otherwise we are too late to the trade like you've shown in your screenshot.

ivan if u take a closer look RP ,s entry is as late as arrowed spots from the cross zoon .. maybe even a little bit later
(in this pic on average the distance between cross and entry is ~ 18 candles..)

1) First entry point to upside you showed, 3 issues for me A) Not up then LoL B) Like to see a clear full bar break of Price level C) Most Importantly is the time
Lunch time in London if I was trading London open this is when I'm finishing up my day. I believe to be consistent you Need to trade at right time of day in
my mind thats 1 hour before open till 2 hours after.

2)Second entry to down side thats just after major news announcement of ADP jobs report and I will almost always wait for about 30 mins before taking a trade.

Got up not expecting much but was nicely surprised, 2 FX and 1 Futures trade, very profitable day. I wanted to trade soy bean oil but it was moving too fast to catch.

Rocky took those 4 trades in the morning (I know there is correlation between them, but dont know in advance which is going to to the great move)
Regardless the outcome, were they good entries?
PS those trades triggered about 30 min before london open.

Forex Dimi, entries look ok, but I wouldn't trade that eur/nzd chart its a mess.

Nothing for me today, london open should've had some action NY flat today.

Gaud and Gnzd trades. In GNZD price retraced at 45 and took 2nd trade (short) at 42 on the same time moving the TP of the first trade at B/E.
Target for GAUD was 1.6100, but with great concern of 1.6135 lvl, target for GNZD was 1.7255-60 lvl. None of these achieved, closed at 1.6140 (when price retraced) and 1.7300.
Also 2 shorts in DAX, first one closed at B/E when price retraced, 2nd trade closed at 20pips (even I believe that market might test 530-500 lvls)

Those trades are before price come out from the cloud, but they are the same morning lvls shorted again GAUD at 90 and GNZD at 42 targets 30 pips each

Another quiet FX day in NY maybe now that holidays past things will pick up. 2 futures trades oil and soy bean meal.

rather bad day (wrong consensus on DAX (when the market would retrace), lost in the morning 35pips on DAX thus:
3 trades in EAUD-ENZD as in the pics, target for EAUD is 00 and maybe 090-080 lvls for NZD the tp is 1.5590
I know might be little aggressive trades (no other choice)
