Well, that's the idea. Best is to buy when it starts going up and to sell when it starts going down. Emphasizing on 'starts'.

How do you determine when it "starts going up" or "starts going down"?

Which TF do you use?

Maybe he could use some type of formula in order to find the gradient of the chart and determine when to buy and sell. Or maybe measure the gradient of a ma.

You've got to be careful that you're not buy into a temporary rally or selling into false break.
If only trading was this simple FF wouldn't exist.

Then of course it's in the newbie section what can one expect ?

When you are higher than the highest point in the past for a specified period of time, then you are starting to going up this applies symmetrically for going down.
